Great

Solo stay

I love staying here! It has a very modern, creative vibe with wonderful common spaces. My only complaints are that the pillows are not comfortable for me, but now I know to bring my own. Also, the refrigerator is a drawer that is small and not very cold. If you are not staying alone, be aware that the toilet/shower are in a frosted glass pod with a separate sink in the bedroom. So, there is not a lot of privacy if you are sharing the room. The location next to TD Garden and North Station are very convenient and it’s close enough to walk to the North End, Fanueil Hall and a lot of other sites. I highly recommend, especially for traveling alone for work!

Ver modern hotel; liked it, but not for everyone. Depends how far you want to step into the future, whether you prioritize efficiency over space. The common spaces of the hotel are very stylish, as if working at Google or another high-tech firm. Games all over common area, terrific views of city, impressive breakfast buffet, espresso bar. Interesting coffee table books, bric-a-brac on walls. Self-help books in common areas and also in individual rooms. Lobby up on fourth floor, so need one elevator to get there, then once checked in, your key enables elevator to access upper floors. All very high-tech. Screens to check you in at lobby, and inside the rooms most controls manipulated on an iPad that greets you by name when you touch the screen. A few controls redundantly provided with wall switches but vast majority only controlled with the iPad. First impression of our tiny room was that it was like having a berth on a cruise ship, second that it was like a hotel in Japan, in the sense of being filled with high-tech gadgets and efficient use of space. Room no wider than bed, which was super-comfortable. Blackout blinds create total darkness. Very little privacy if more than one guest; bathroom basically a cubicle in larger room. Not all high-tech works well; check-in screen didn't recognize my name so had to get help. Quirks like difficult to control whether iPad turns on/off all or just some lights. Cool and futuristic but not all kinks worked out.

Great

Solo stay

The bad - Be aware - the rooms are small. A bed (you can only access from one side), one chair. Small toilet/shower area. Good for solo travel, but I would hate to share the room. The good - there is a more than ample common area with a bar and food service. There is good co-working space, and even a small conference room. There are many restaurants within a very easy walking distance. Good access to the T station. In short - it's a good hotel if you know what you are getting ahead of time.

This is our second stay at a Citizen M. We also stayed at the Miami location. Great hotels with a touch of minimalism. I like having a tablet to control all the room features. Would recommend this place. Also a good location in town and a good food court next door.
