Universal Studios Singapore: Rides, Zones & Insider Tips

Planning a trip to Universal Studios Singapore (USS)? Whether you're a first-timer or making a return visit, this local’s guide will show you how to get the most out of your day — from must-ride attractions to food spots worth queueing for.

📍 Where Is Universal Studios Singapore?

    Universal Studios Singapore Facade
Universal Studios Singapore is located on Sentosa Island, just a 10-minute drive from Singapore’s city centre. You can get there by monorail, cable car, or by walking via the Sentosa Boardwalk. Once inside, you’ll step into a world of themed zones, thrill rides, and movie magic — all packed into a compact, easily walkable park.
👉 Tip: Save time by booking your USS admission tickets on Klook — sometimes bundled with Sentosa monorail passes or express queue options.

🎢 Explore the Themed Zones: What to See & Ride in Each Land

Universal Studios Singapore is divided into 7 immersive zones, each designed around iconic movie franchises or themes. Here's a breakdown of what to expect in each — and the rides worth queueing for!

    1) Minion Land

    universal studios singapore
Say "Bello!" to the newest and one of the most exciting zones in Universal Studios Singapore — Minion Land! Replacing the old Madagascar area, this land is packed with colourful chaos, banana-themed everything, and everyone's favourite yellow troublemakers from the Despicable Me franchise.
Universal Studios Singapore Guide - Minion Land Ride
The star attraction here is Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, a 3D motion simulator ride that transforms you into a minion for the day. Expect a hilarious, fast-paced ride filled with mishaps, dancing, and all the mischief you'd expect from Gru’s little helpers. The ride is family-friendly, but fun enough for adults too.
Universal Studios Singapore Guide - Minion Land Merchandise
Minion Land also features themed eateries, snack carts, and Insta-worthy backdrops. You’ll find exclusive Minions merchandise, and plenty of character meet-and-greets throughout the day. It's a must-visit zone, especially for families and anyone who loves a good laugh!

    2) Far Far Away

Universal Studios Singapore - Far Far Away Castle
You'll spot Far Far Away by the towering Shrek castle, an iconic centrepiece of the park. Inside, you’ll find Shrek 4-D Adventure, a short film with moving seats, wind, and water effects that make you feel like part of the story. It’s a fun, light-hearted experience that adds a magical twist to a typical theatre show.
Puss In Boots‘ Giant Journey - Universal Studios Singapore
One of the highlights here is Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey, a suspended coaster that’s surprisingly thrilling for a family ride. The track winds around a giant beanstalk, with charming animatronics and storytelling throughout. Kids will love it, and adults will find it a welcome break from the high-speed coasters elsewhere.

    3) The Lost World

Universal Studios Singapore Jurassic Park - Rapids Adventure
The Lost World is split into two zones — Jurassic Park and WaterWorld. In Jurassic Park, you can brave the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, a river raft ride through dino-infested waters. It’s a fan favourite for good reason — thrilling drops, immersive jungle scenes, and a big splash at the end. Bring a poncho if you want to stay dry!
Universal Studios Singapore - Jurassic Park
For a bit of height, try the Canopy Flyer, a breezy aerial ride that gives you a bird’s eye view of the area. Don’t forget to catch the WaterWorld stunt show too — it’s packed with action, jet skis, explosions, and live stunts that keep you on the edge of your seat.

    4) Ancient Egypt

    USS Revenge of the Mummy
Walking into Ancient Egypt feels like stepping onto the set of The Mummy. Massive statues, hieroglyph-covered walls, and robed guards make this zone one of the most atmospheric in the park. But the real highlight is Revenge of the Mummy, an indoor roller coaster that launches you into darkness with sharp turns, fire effects, and supernatural surprises. We rate this as our best ride in USS!

While the ride is intense, the zone itself is a great photo spot, with dramatic backdrops and Egyptian-style architecture. You’ll also find souvenir shops with themed merchandise and shaded areas to take a break from the sun.

    5) Sci-Fi City

Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON™ - Universal Studios Singapore
Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON™ - Universal Studios Singapore
Sci-Fi City is the most futuristic zone in the park, where metal structures and glowing lights set the scene. If you’re after adrenaline, this is your playground.
Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON towers above the skyline as the world’s tallest pair of duelling roller coasters. Choose between HUMAN (a seated coaster) or CYLON (an inverted coaster with loops) — or try both if you dare. This is our go-to ride at Universal Studios Singapore!

Another must-do is Transformers: The Ride, a 4D experience that blends real motion with digital effects. It feels like you’re right in the middle of a battle between Autobots and Decepticons — expect fast turns, explosions, and a thrilling finale. It's consistently one of the most popular rides, so hit this early or use an express pass.

    6) Hollywood

This is the first zone you’ll walk into and a great place to snap some early photos. Designed like a retro Hollywood boulevard, it’s all glitz and glamour — think palm trees, vintage cars, and familiar movie tunes playing in the background. There aren’t any major rides here, but it’s the best spot for character appearances and shopping.
    Rekomendasi Tempat Wisata di Singapura
You’ll often find Marilyn Monroe, Woody Woodpecker, or the Minions roaming around for photos. It's also home to the Universal Studios Store — perfect for grabbing themed souvenirs before you leave.

    7) New York

Lights, Camera, Action! - Universal Studios Singapore
Lights, Camera, Action! - Universal Studios Singapore
Styled after classic NYC streets, this zone offers a slice of the Big Apple complete with brownstones and yellow taxis. Lights, Camera, Action! is the main attraction here — a behind-the-scenes effects show hosted (virtually) by Steven Spielberg that simulates a hurricane hitting a film set. It’s loud, dramatic, and a great escape from the heat.
New York is also where you’ll bump into Sesame Street characters like Elmo and Big Bird. Though it’s one of the smaller zones, the city vibes and character moments make it a fun stop as you loop around the park.

🎟️ Tickets & Express Passes: Skip the Queue, Maximise the Fun!

If you want to make the most of your time at Universal Studios Singapore, knowing how and where to buy your tickets — and whether to get an Express Pass — can seriously change the game.

    Where to Buy Your Tickets

First things first: don’t buy your tickets at the park gates. It’s the most expensive option, and you’ll waste time queueing before you even get into the park. The smarter way? Book online in advance.
When you book USS tickets with Klook, you get instant confirmation and a barcode that scans directly at the park entrance — no printing, no physical ticket collection, and definitely no waiting in long lines. Plus, we often offer exclusive discounts and bundles, so you can save more while skipping the hassle.

⚡ Is the Express Pass Worth It?

The short answer? Yes — 100% worth it, especially on weekends or during peak school holiday periods.
There are two types of Express Passes available:

    Express Pass Type

    What Is Covered

    Universal Express

✅ Skip the regular queues for 1 time at each participating attraction (Except for front row on Battlestar Galactica, Magic Potion Spin, Canopy Flyer, Treasure Hunter and for any front row access, or other selected attractions as may be determined by RWS from time to time)

Universal Express Plus (Includes Minion Land Rides)

✅ Skip the regular queues once at all participating rides and shows, including Minion Land rides (Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Silly Swirly, Buggie Boogie)

✅ Enter the park through dedicated lane with priority access (limited to first two hours of park operating hours)

While the Express Pass does increase the cost of your visit, the time savings are huge. I used the standard Universal Express Pass and skipped a 70-minute queue in just 10 minutes. It makes a huge difference and allows you to cover nearly the entire park in half a day, giving you more time for food, shows, and repeat rides.

🚶‍♂️ Bonus Hack: Use the Single Rider Lane

Certain rides — like Revenge of the Mummy, Transformers, and Battlestar Galactica — offer a Single Rider Lane. These queues are often shorter than even the Express Pass lanes. If you don’t mind being split from your group for a ride, this is a fantastic way to beat the wait and ride more in less time.

🚇 How to Get to Universal Studios Singapore

    Universal Studios Singapore
Universal Studios Singapore is located on Sentosa Island, about 10 minutes from Singapore’s city centre. The park is part of Resorts World Sentosa, so once you arrive on the island, it's just a short walk to the entrance.

⭐ By MRT + Sentosa Express (Our Top Pick!)

Take the North East or Circle Line to HarbourFront MRT Station, , then head to VivoCity Level 3 and board the Sentosa Express. Alight at Waterfront Station — USS is just steps away.

    Walking the Boardwalk

Prefer to walk? There’s a free, sheltered boardwalk from VivoCity to Sentosa, but it takes 20–30 minutes — you might want to save that energy for the park!

    By Cable Car

For a scenic route, take the Singapore Cable Car from Mount Faber or HarbourFront — it drops you at Sentosa Station, a short walk from the park.

    By Taxi or Car

You can also take a taxi or private car to Resorts World Sentosa. Drop-off is near the casino — just follow the signs to Universal Studios Singapore.

🍔 Food & Drink at Universal Studios Singapore

You’ll definitely need to fuel up between rides — and luckily, there are plenty of tasty options inside the park. Here’s where to eat, what to try, and some time-saving hacks to beat the lunch crowd.

🍴 Where to Eat in the Park

For a classic American meal, head to Mel’s Drive-In (Hollywood zone) — an air-conditioned diner serving juicy burgers, crispy fries, and thick milkshakes. The mushroom burger is a hidden gem.
Craving something quick? Goldilocks in Far Far Away offers crispy fried chicken and rice combos, while Oasis Spice Café (Ancient Egypt) serves halal dishes like biryani and shawarma.
Got a sweet tooth? Try the "Nasty Cookie" from the Cookie Monster-themed shop — warm, gooey, and surprisingly not too sweet. Over at Candylicious, stock up on colourful treats like sour straps (grape is a fan favourite!).

    💧 Stay Hydrated

It’s hot out there! Bring a refillable bottle — there are water fountains around the park, and staying hydrated is key to surviving the heat and queues.

Insider Tips for Visiting Universal Studios Singapore

    Sesame Street Characters
    1) Be prepared for Singapore’s unpredictable weather — It can be scorching one minute and stormy the next. A bit of prep will help you enjoy your day at USS, rain or shine.
Afternoon downpours are common, so bring a poncho or compact umbrella. When it rains, head to indoor rides or sheltered areas like New York. Some coasters, like Battlestar Galactica, may still run in light rain.
For the heat, wear light clothing, comfy shoes, and take regular shade breaks. There are water fountains around the park, so bring a refillable bottle to stay hydrated.
    2) Rides like Revenge of the Mummy and Battlestar Galactica require lockers — They're free for a limited time, based on queue length. After that, fees jump. At The Lost World, skip paid lockers and use the nearby free lockers at Cylon, Human, or Mummy instead.
    3) Arrive early — While the park opens at 11 AM, arrive by 10 AM to beat the crowds and grab globe photos. Wait times peak between 11 AM–1 PM and again around 3 PM. Your best bet for short queues? 10–11 AM and after 5 PM.
    4) Download the Universal Studios App — For live wait times, maps, and show schedules. For crowd trends, check Thrill-Data before your visit.
