PLAYT Unveils the Umami of Yunnan's Rare Mushrooms
As Hong Kong diners increasingly embrace health-focused cuisine, wild mushrooms from Yunnan have surged in popularity for their exceptional taste and nutritional benefits. Renowned for its diverse high-altitude ecosystems and pristine environment, Yunnan produces some of the world’s most sought-after wild mushrooms, including morels, chanterelles, and porcini. These delicacies offer rich, earthy flavors alongside low-calorie profiles, high protein content, and abundant minerals.
PLAYT is proud to introduce its new limited-time “Yunnan Mushroom Feast,” debuting on 16 March. This special promotion brings authentic Yunnan mountain flavors directly to the buffet table, featuring expertly prepared wild mushroom dishes alongside PLAYT’s signature international cuisine and live-cooking stations.
The chef masterfully combines classic Yunnan wild mushrooms with both traditional Chinese preparations and innovative Western techniques, creating dishes rich in natural umami and depth of flavor, including Steamed Bean Curd with Minced Shrimp and Morel Mushroom (Lunch), Poached Fish Fillet with Yunnan Mixed Mushrooms in Supreme Stock (Lunch) and Wok-Fried Sliced Pork with Purple Yam, Green Soybeans, and Sparassis Crispa (Lunch). Dinner offers an even more extensive selection, emphasizing Yunnan’s signature mushrooms with creative twists, such as Double-Boiled Chicken Soup with Dried Sea Whelk, Yam, Dates and Morel Mushroom, Wok-Fried Shrimps with Celtuce, Lily Bulb, and Chanterelle, Stir-Fried Beef Tenderloin with Porcini Mushroom, and more.
The chef’s innovative spirit shines through in fusion Western-style hot dishes incorporating Yunnan mushrooms, including Fresh Black Truffle and Wild Mushroom Pizza, Mushroom Chicken Roulade.
The desserts proved equally enchanting, our pastry chef artfully transformed porcini mushrooms into an exquisite and utterly delicious sweet finale, including Sea Salt Caramel & Porcini Gelato and Porcini & Milk Chocolate Cake. The distinctive earthy aroma of mushrooms adds a surprising yet harmonious new dimension to these sweet treats. A diverse array of international culinary delights will also be available, including Snow Crab Legs, Sushi at the lunch buffet and Lobster, Fresh Oyster at the dinner buffet!
