A fantastic experience to learn about the Peranakan culture in Singapore. Great explanation from the guide Eddie Sim from Siam Express. He even show us some historical images during the breakfast time. The tour is half walking half coach. Ideal for seniors.
The tour was enriching and brought us to places that we have went past multiple times but not stopped to observe. Our guide Eddie, educated my family and I about the Peranakan culture and kept us entertained throughout. We were brought to the colourful shophouses @ Joo Chiat to learn more of the architecture and had some photos taken. Had 2 food stops: coffee and toast for breakfast and Chilli Padi for lunch. Before lunch, we had Peranakan tile colouring, which was therapeutic. The lunch featured Peranakan food and reminded my dad and myself the P food my grandmother used to cook. Highly recommend this tour for families, young or old!
My family and I joined the Peranakan Tour on 7 May. It was a fun & enjoyable time with guide Joseph who was able to speak in English and Mandarin which helped a lot as I have two aunties who can speak Mandarin only. Joseph was able to share with us on the Peranakan history which was interesting and getting to know the Peranakan culture . We started the walking tour from the Katong Heritage House and it was easy walk even for the elderly . We had our teabreak at Chendol Melaka where we had the chendol , Kueh salat & Kueh Kosi which were very good and then ended up at Chilli Padi Nyonya Cafe at Heng Mui Keng Terrace for our tile painting and sumptuous Peranakan lunch which was good too . Thank you very much to Joseph for the fun and laughters and we have a good time . The tour was worth to go and getting to know the Peranakan history in Singapore . Thank you to the organizer and agency who organized this tour .
Ben is a passionate guide sharing his love for history, stories and memories. Due to covid measures, mid-morning breakfast was at Killiney instead. Food was tasty and photo-worthy. Loved the tile painting session. Overall great experience!
Thank you Benedict, our Tour guide for a group of 11 today! He has shared the Peranakan culture, history, buildings, streets and food. We end our Tour with Tile Painting and Hi Tea Set! Worth your time for this culture immersion! 👍
The tour was very informative and enlightening as our tour guide, Johnson is very knowledgeable of the Peranakan heritage and culture. I enjoyed the tile colouring session (a photo of it has been uploaded) which made me felt like a kid again. The Peranakan Gallery was amazing and lunch was delicious. Overall, it was a good experience.
They provided an audio device for each person which made it easy for each of us to listen to the tour guide. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. There was a lot of chances to ask questions. Really enjoyed the tile painting. The high tea food was bite sized but sufficient for me. Liked the durian pengat
Learnt a lot about peranakan culture from the tour guide. Convenient meeting point at Paya Lebar and end at orchard claymore connect. Food was just nice, not a lot but I enjoyed the experience. It was very educational and fun!
Loved the tour! Joseph was a great tour guide! He was very good in english and mandarin. The bus was comfy. Not a lot of walking so good for people who can’t walk long. The kuehs are 2 pieces and ordered a drink under $3 for the old bibiks. I got a milk tea with grass jelly. The tile painting was fun and the high tea at the peranakan was good! Overall highly recommended!
Well introduction of the journey from tour guide … had a good experience and delicious lunch… might want to split the tea break abit earlier before lunch .. or add more activity before the lunch …
