Guide
- Qiandaohu Botanical Garden is located on Qingxin Island in the central lake area of Qiandao Lake, 800 meters from the central lake area tourist service center. It is surrounded by water on all sides and connected to the outside world by a bridge.
- The island is lush with trees and has an elegant environment. Its shape resembles a running fawn. Sika deer from Northeast China were once raised here, and the climate is suitable. Sika deer have been highly regarded as auspicious creatures throughout history, so Qingxin Island is also known as Deer Island.
- The botanical garden covers an area of 180 mu. Its focus is on the ecological restoration of the forest ecosystem on Qingxin Island in Qiandao Lake, and it is an excellent example of Chun'an's comprehensive remediation of the lakeside areas of Qiandao Lake, implementing the policy of returning the lake to the people and returning land to forests. The entire scenic area is divided into one axis, one core, one belt, and five zones. It features characteristic landscapes such as the Sky Mirror, Wedding Lawn, Wisteria Tunnel, and Weeping Cherry Courtyard. It aims to create a comprehensive botanical garden with functions such as plant conservation, popular science research, sightseeing and leisure, and product display.
- The botanical garden currently has over 1,000 identified plant species, including over 300 species of hydrangeas, almost encompassing all classic varieties in the hydrangea world. A large area of original natural vegetation is still preserved in the northwest of the park. The main dominant tree species in the coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest is Masson pine, a natural forest, approximately 63 years old. Broad-leaved trees include Quercus acutissima, Ilex rotunda, Ulmus parvifolia, Liquidambar formosana, Cinnamomum camphora, Dalbergia hupehana, Quercus serrata, Quercus fabri, Ligustrum lucidum, Cyclobalanopsis glauca, Choerospondias axillaris, and Platanus orientalis. There are also bamboo species such as Phyllostachys edulis, Pleioblastus amarus, Pseudosasa amabilis, and Arundinaria fortunei. The main shrub species include Loropetalum chinense, Cleyera japonica, Rhododendron, and Hamamelis mollis. In the ecological restoration areas, various types of green seedlings are planted, including cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, osmanthus, Taxus chinensis, red maples, ginkgo, Liquidambar formosana, Ligustrum japonicum, and Prunus persica.
