Guide

The Flaming Mountains Scenic Area in Turpan is one of Turpan's most famous attractions, located on the northern edge of the Turpan Basin, along the northern route of the ancient Silk Road. Locals call it "Kiziltag" (meaning "Red Mountain"). It is a filming location for "Journey to the West" and one of the hottest places in China. The scenic area is dominated by fiery red reddish-brown sandstone landforms and is divided into two parts: underground and above ground. The underground section features a corridor-style exhibition hall displaying history and character statues related to the ancient Gaochang Kingdom; above ground, there are fiery red rock cliffs, "Journey to the West" themed sculptures, and a giant thermometer shaped like the Golden Cudgel. The landscape is spectacular, making it a must-visit destination for Turpan tourism. A recommended visit duration is 2-3 hours.

Things to note
