Shenzhen: Robotaxi, Drone Delivery & Tech Insider Tour

As someone who speaks English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, there were no language barriers. Thanks to the kind guidance, I was able to look around comfortably. It's best to mention what you want in advance, but even if you tell them on the spot, they will do their best to accommodate you. I was able to experience drone delivery and robot taxis, and visit the showrooms of various companies. If you want to test drive a car, please mention it in advance. It seems there are specific times available for test drives. I didn't do a test drive because I wanted to see other things. In particular, at Huaqiangbei, I not only saw things but also gained a lot of insight in a short time, thanks to the vivid sharing of personal on-site experiences. Thank you once again.

This tour is really exciting and let me feel the high-tech side of Shenzhen. Ordering robot taxi or drone delivery by myself is still difficult as a foreign traveler, so using a tour is definitely worth it. I heard that drone deliveries don’t operate every day due to some events, but luckily my guide Nora helped me and I got to see the drone delivery. She’s very friendly, kind, and a great guide. I really appreciate her hospitality.

Our guide was incredibly kind, spoke English, and took many photos for us! On the tour, we not only saw drones flying but also ordered tea via drone delivery and traveled by autonomous vehicle to visit the Xiaomi and DJI stores!

In just a few hours, our family was guided by a tour guide to test ride Pony.ai's self-driving taxis, order food online and have it delivered by drones, visit several top brand stores of Chinese technology, such as DJI, Xiaomi, and Huawei. We even test-rode the AITO M9 to experience near-L3 autonomous driving functions. We had a profound experience of technological life. The tour guide, Ajun, was friendly and professional, making it a very worthwhile experience!

I was able to observe and experience cutting-edge technology. It was a shame I couldn't see the drone takeoffs and landings for the drone delivery demonstration. It would be even better if the timing could be improved!

The guide was very kind and attentive throughout the tour. I am Japanese and do not speak Chinese, and my English is not very fluent either. There were a few moments when communication was difficult, but the guide patiently used a translation app to show me explanations in Japanese, which was very helpful. In the first half, I experienced a robotaxi and drone delivery. In the second half, I was shown around Shenzhen’s electronics district. The guide also asked several times what I wanted to see or experience, so I think they would be flexible if you have specific requests. I came to Shenzhen simply because I wanted to experience a “city of the future,” without a clear plan. Even so, the guide suggested many options and helped me understand the city much better. I would definitely recommend this tour, especially for people interested in Shenzhen’s technology. Japanese travelers who are not confident in English or Chinese should also be able to enjoy it with the help of translation apps.

Great half-day tour of high-tech area of Shenzhen. The robotaxi ride was really unique and interesting. My guide was excellent and knowledgeable about Shenzhen and the latest technology. Perfect tour for tourists to access this part of China. Recommended!

The tour was eye opening and shows just how modern China has taken everyday technology. Much of the innovation in transport, logisitics and consumer electronics are ahead of the West. From what we saw, there are many off-shoot tours that we can do to appreciate Shenzhen. Our guides, Lya and Chris are also excellent contacts. They each guided 3 of us so the tour was deeply engaging. The bonus is they are able to refer business contacts too. The tour and our guides open up more opportunities of trade and deeper appreciation of China.
