Penang Kek Lok Si & Penang Hill Half-Day Guided Tour

It was an extraordinary experience with straightforward communication with the tour guide for pickup. The areas visited (Penang Hill with the funicular railway and the Kek Lok Si Temple) were impressive. Especially around the time of the New Year festival, the temple was decorated with many lanterns. There is so much to discover and see, you could spend a whole day there. It was simply great! On the way back, you can also be dropped off at a Hawker center for lunch instead of returning to the hotel hungry.

The guide assigned to me is Willee. He was punctual for the pick up, make effort in trying to explain the history of both places. He is easy going and very patient and always volunteers to help me with the taking of photos at the best photo spots. The train ticket to Penang Hill was an express ticket and that is a plus point as u can beat the queue and the waiting area is air-conditioned 😄would definitely recommend for people visiting for the first time.

Our tour guide, Mr. Li, is Chinese and explained the history of Penang to us in Chinese, including the situation during the British occupation. We first went to Penang Hill. There were very few people, and the view from the top was amazing. The wind was quite cool on the mountain in the morning, so I recommend bringing a light jacket. We also got the best seats in the front row of the cable car and visited a 200-year-old Indian temple. We passed by a solemn mosque and the Kek Lok Si Temple, which is full of Chinese culture. It was a rich and fulfilling itinerary.

Book it! The guide was amazing at explaining the history of the Penang hill, the difference in Buddhist practices, local culture and temples history. I would have not appreciated the location as deeply without this explanation. definitely worth it.

I didn’t expect it to be a one-on-one private tour. The price is really worth it! I received a WhatsApp confirmation two days before arriving in Penang. He accompanied me almost the entire time to visit Kek Lok Si Temple and Penang Hill, from which I learned a lot about Penang’s history and culture. It is the best choice for traveling alone.

The different levels of Kek Lok Si Temple have quite a significant vertical distance, so climbing on your own can be tiring. Taking a vehicle is just right. For Penang Hill, you'll take a funicular up, and the view from the top is beautiful!
