GreatStayed with family
Our room was really small with two joined twin beds. Maybe 10 feet by 15 feet. It felt like a converted attic with a slanted wall. It would have been nice if there was a shelf or luggage stand that folded out to put your suitcase on. The room was very clean, quiet and modern. The AC system worked flawlessly in the heat. It would have been better if they had USB outlets for charging phones and what not like I've seen in other hotels.
The bathroom was a tiny combo room, maybe 4ft by 4 ft with the shower and toilet. With the pitched painted floor, water got everywhere and the floor was slippery. It would be nice if they had anti-slip pads on the floors. Also, they could use a shelf in the bathroom.
It was really close to Amsterdam Centraal and easy to find. The staff was helpful in helping you find your destination.

Prime Location, No Frills.
If you are looking for a luxury resort, this isn't the place. However, if you want a safe, cheap, and clean bed in the heart of Amsterdam, Sotel Amsterdam Central is a good choice for budget travelers.
The location is absolutely unbeatable. You are literally a stone's throw from Central Station, which makes getting to and from the airport or taking day trips incredibly easy. Everything in the city center is walkable from here.
We arrived quite late, but the after-hours check-in process was seamless. The night staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and made us feel very safe which is a huge plus when arriving in a new city after dark. They were also super helpful with directions.
Yes, the rooms are small. Yes, they are basic. If you’re planning to spend your days exploring rather than lounging in the room, this won't bother you at all. It’s a place to crash.
Perfect for solo travelers or couples on a budget who prioritize location over luxury. If you just need a functional room in a fantastic spot with helpful staff, book it!

If you’re looking for a clean, affordable hotel in an excellent location, Sotel Hotel Amsterdam is a great choice. It’s just a 2-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city or catching trains.
The rooms are on the smaller side, and the bathrooms are even more compact, but they have everything you need for a comfortable stay. If you’re after luxury, this may not be the place, but if you want a basic, reasonably priced room in a fantastic location, it’s hard to beat.
The staff were all friendly and accommodating, with the after-hours night staff deserving a special mention for their professionalism and willingness to help. The hotel also felt very safe, with staff available overnight, which was reassuring.
Overall, I’d happily recommend Sotel Hotel Amsterdam to anyone looking for great value, a central location, and welcoming service.

Below averageSolo stay
I planned my trip to Amsterdam and chose a hotel near the train station for convenience. Among many options, I selected this property—but unfortunately, I regret that decision.
As someone who works in hospitality, I fully understand how important reviews are for hotels. However, this property definitely needs improvement. When you pay $448 for two nights, you naturally expect a comfortable room that matches what is advertised online.
Unfortunately, my experience was far from that. The room had a strong, damp carpet odor, which made it very uncomfortable and difficult to sleep. There was also no phone in the room, which made it inconvenient to contact the front desk when needed.
Additionally, the bathroom amenities were provided only in very small bottles. For someone with long hair, it was not possible to properly shower without needing to request extra products.
I arrived late in the evening and didn’t have enough time to address these issues with the front desk. I also had to leave very early in the morning, so I couldn’t properly follow up on all my concerns.
To make matters worse, the view from the room was extremely unpleasant. I couldn’t even open the window as it faced pipes, staircase structures, and a roof covered in garbage and cigarette butts.
This was my first visit to Amsterdam, and this experience has left me quite hesitant about booking hotels in central locations in the future.

GreatStayed with family · For friends and family
Amazing location, straight outside central station! Our room was in the basement which lacked any natural light and the shower flooded the bathroom after each use which was a bit annoying, but comfy beds and helpful staff. Ideal for 2 nights stay if getting the Eurostar. Close to all the action!

Coffee was available at the front desk, which was a lovely amenity.

The room smelled like sewer, it was quite dirty and the hotel is overall in poor condition. Stay here only if you want a central location.
