Fantastic

The property is well-maintained and is situated in the center of many popular attractions. The staff was responsive to my requests for an apple-cutting knife for my room, as well as some bandaids. The room was cleaned daily and was quite nice. The 4 Lakes and 2 Ricers scenic area is right across the street. Elephant Trunk Hill is a short walk away, as are the Pedestrian Streets.

The room was immaculate and the bed and shower were great. The view of the lake and pagodas from the 21st floor was stunning! We had a double with Lakeview. Check in was fast and efficient and it was nice to get gifts during our stay. The disappointment was the breakfast which was very patchy. The tableware and crockery were not all clean and the quality of the food was not too high - especially the western food which was too often greasy or limp. This was not helped by the fact that everything was only lukewarm. The best food was found at the noodle station and also the bread and pastries. The staff also looked pretty miserable most of the time. However, how can you complain too much about a hotel with a waterfall?

This is a popular hotel located right next to the Sun and Moon Pagoda. Easy walk to the Elephant Hill landmark.

We particularly liked the location of the hotel. We were very grateful that the reception staff gave such a warm welcome on arrival. The concierge was very helpful with directions and arranging taxis. The room was very clean. The spa treatment, foot massage was outstanding. Lots of choice for breakfast. However, the breakfast area was crowded, and the coffee machine kept breaking down during our stay, meaning we had no coffee on two mornings.

Below average

The only good thing about this hotel is the view of you have a room facing the lake. Our lake view window in the room wouldn’t close properly. The bed was ok for comfort but quite high. The room was clean. The property is incredibly dated. Its mass tourism affected with loads of tourist buses arriving constantly. There is no one available to help with bags when you arrive. The staff look like they’ve given up. The dining room was chaos. On our first day, we couldn’t even find a seat to eat breakfast it was so busy at 7AM. The western breakfast option was very poor. The Chinese food we had in the hotel restaurant at night was average. The chicken was tough. Luckily there are loads of restaurants near by the hotel to eat at instead. I would not recommend this property. It’s barely 2 stars not 4.

A very tired old property but great position.overall a safe place to stay if you are not expecting too much from a hotel that is rated as the best in town. Breakfast pretty basic but heaps of restaurants very close.

A very touristy hotel, but they handle the volume well. Room service was non existent though specially advertised. Tour director went out of her way to make my Li River cruise memorable. Consierge was helpful & had very good English.
