Located in the Quang Ninh province of Vietnam, Ha Long Bay is a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site made up of thousands of stunning limestone islands, emerald waters and a rich cultural heritage. Whether you're looking for relaxing cruises with unbeatable scenery or enjoy kayaking, rock climbing and exploring caves, Ha Long Bay has something for everyone. Translating to "Descending Dragon", Ha long Bay gets its name from Vietnamese folklore where a mother dragon descended from the skies and spat out jewels and jade to protect the land from invaders. It is said that these jewels later turned into islets rising from the emerald waters of the bay. You can book your visit to Ha Long Bay through a tour operator, or take a bus to Ha Long city or Hai Phong and a taxi to the port. You can also book a 15-minute seaplane ride over the bay for a bird's eye view of the islands.

I was worried in the morning because I hadn't heard from the limousine bus, but they arrived on time. The guide greeted me as I waited. Other than that, I had no worries. I suffered a bit in the heat, but I enjoyed touring Ha Long Bay. Thanks to the guides and staff, I had a safe and enjoyable trip.

Our 2D1N cruise with Alisa Premier was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we boarded, the crew made us feel welcome with warm smiles and excellent service. The cabin was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed with a private balcony that offered breathtaking views of Ha Long Bay. The itinerary was well-paced—we enjoyed riding the boat through the limestone karsts, visiting a stunning cave, and relaxing on the sundeck with cocktails at sunset. The activities were organized smoothly, never rushed, and always fun. The staff were attentive and always went the extra mile to make sure everyone was comfortable. What really stood out was the balance of relaxation and adventure whether we wanted quiet time on the balcony or to join group activities, the experience felt perfectly tailored. I highly recommend the Alisa Premier Cruise if you want a luxurious yet friendly Ha Long Bay experience. Worth every penny, and I’d gladly do it again!

Ha Long Bay Cruises

Exploring Ha Long Bay by boat is the ultimate way to experience its breathtaking scenery of towering limestone cliffs, emerald waters, and hidden lagoons. Whether you're looking for a short trip or an immersive journey, there are plenty of options for every traveler.

Ha Long Bay Day Trips and Overnight Cruises

For those with limited time, a day cruise is a great introduction, but to truly experience the magic of the bay, consider booking a Ha Long Bay overnight cruise. A Ha Long Bay cruise one night allows you to sail past iconic islands, explore caves, kayak through calm waters, and enjoy a sunset over the bay---all without the crowds.

If you want an even deeper adventure, a Ha Long Bay 2 night cruise offers the chance to visit more remote areas, such as Bai Tu Long Bay and Cat Ba Island, giving you extra time to explore hidden lagoons, swim among coral reefs, or hike lush trails on Cat Ba. Onboard, you can enjoy fresh seafood, participate in squid fishing at night, or simply relax on the deck taking in the scenery.

Activities on a Ha Long Bay Cruise

  • Kayaking through caves and secluded bays

  • Exploring caves like Sung Sot (Surprise Cave) and Thien Cung (Heavenly Palace Cave)

  • Swimming in calm emerald waters

  • Relaxing on sun decks with panoramic views of Ha Long City and the surrounding islands

  • Dining on local Vietnamese cuisine and fresh seafood

Because Halong Bay has a tropical wet climate, cruises run year-round. The best months to visit are from October to April, when the weather is cooler and skies are clearer, perfect for photos or a seaplane tour for a bird's-eye view of the islands. Booking a Halong Bay overnight cruise or longer gives you a unique opportunity to experience the bay's tranquility as evening falls and the day tourists leave, making it a truly unforgettable experience.
