What to expect
Leave Kyoto to the crowds, keep the seaside for yourself 🌊
- If you've already seen the red of Kiyomizu-dera, the torii gates of Fushimi Inari, and the bamboo groves of Arashiyama, then this day should be dedicated to the sea breeze and pine forests. Heading north from Kyoto, the scenery gradually opens up, and Amanohashidate, one of Japan's three most scenic views, slowly unfolds at the end of your sight.
- Special Note ⚠️ If you plan to take a sightseeing boat on the day, please be aware: there are eagles in the Ine Funaya area. If you spot an eagle, please immediately stop feeding the seagulls 🕊️ and put away your feed to avoid being pecked.
- Heading north from Kyoto, the sounds of the city are gradually replaced by the sea breeze. A 3.6-kilometer white sandbar is covered with pine forests 🌲, their branches growing into various shapes in the sea breeze. Underfoot is soft white sand, and on both sides are distinct layers of blue sea. Walking through it, time naturally slows down.
- Take the cable car (Amanohashidate Cable Car Maintenance: The cable car experience will be held at Kasamatsu Park on April 14th, 15th, and 16th due to maintenance.) up Monju Mountain 🚡 and look down from the famous “Hiryu-kan” (Flying Dragon View). The entire Amanohashidate resembles a giant dragon soaring into the sky, its head and tail merging with the boundary of sea and sky. The wider the view, the calmer the heart. After descending, take a detour to Chion-ji Temple Monju-do. The ancient wooden temple gate stands quietly, with incense smoke swirling but no clamor. The inverted fan-shaped fortune slips sway gently under the eaves, their fan surfaces gradually widening, as if reminding us that life will slowly unfold.
- The revolving bridge by the shore occasionally rotates ninety degrees to make way for boats. There is no deliberate performance, yet it appears exceptionally elegant due to its order and rhythm. Amanohashidate in summer is even more suitable for a leisurely pace. White sandy beaches extend on both sides of the pine forest, the seawater is clear and transparent 💙, and the pine branches hang low, forming natural shade. Even just a stroll is enough to be healing.
- In the afternoon, head to Ine Funaya, known as "Kyoto's last hidden gem." Within the mountains-enclosed Ine Bay, over 230 funaya houses are quietly arranged along the coast. The first floor is a boathouse, and the second floor is a residence, where people still live in harmony with the sea. There is no hustle and bustle of a commercial street here, only transparent seawater, slowly moving cloud shadows, and the tranquility of life itself.
- You can ride a free bicycle 🚲 through the quiet alleys; or take a boat out to sea 🚤, stand on the deck, watch the seagulls fly close to your line of sight 🕊️, and see the funaya houses gradually recede behind you.
* This entire day, there's no hurried check-ins, and no need for filters.
* The scenery itself is the best expression ✨

Reviews summaryMy mom and I came to Osaka for a 3-night, 4-day self-guided trip, and I thought it would be good to do a day tour, so after looking around, I booked one through Klook! It was my first time doing a day tour, and I was worried because the travel time was quite long, but ⭐️the conclusion is that I highly recommend this tour to anyone traveling to Osaka or Kyoto!⭐️ The view from the Amanohashidate observatory was truly magnificent, and I debated whether or not to take the cruise, but feeding shrimp crackers to the seagulls and hawks was surprisingly fun, so I definitely recommend trying it at least once! It's amazing to see the hawks snatching the shrimp crackers.👍🏻 The photos I took at Ine Funaya also turned out beautifully, making me feel like it was a great decision to sign up for this tour. And 🩵our guide, MIKA-san,🩵 was incredibly kind. Even though the bus travel time was long, our guide told us how to take good photos once we arrived at each destination and even gave us detailed recommendations for other travel spots and restaurants in Japan, so the journey wasn't boring at all. Thanks to our guide, we had a fun trip! Thank you!😊
Such a fun trip! My family, especially my two teenage children, thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenic countryside views during the bus ride were beautiful. Riding the chairlift at Amanohashidate and taking in the amazing view from the top was memorable experience . The boat ride around Ine Bay offered wonderful views of the traditional boathouses, and feeding the seagulls with eagles hovering above was an exhilarating experience and one of the highlights of the day. Our English-speaking guide, Jay, was informative and humorous, making the trip even more enjoyable. I recommend bringing some snacks or a light lunch to eat on the bus so you have more time to explore. Overall, an excellent tour and highly recommended
Both Amanohashidate and Ine no Funaya offered magnificent scenery, and we were blessed with great weather, making for a truly wonderful location. Our guide, Liu, was excellent, providing detailed explanations not only in English and Chinese but also thoughtfully guiding the few Japanese participants. Thank you so much! Because the locations were so beautiful, I felt that "there wasn't enough time!" which is why I only gave the course and schedule 3 stars. I wished I had half a day to explore Kasamatsu Park, the shrines, and temples on the opposite side of Amanohashidate, and the town of Funaya. This tour made me want to return for an overnight stay to explore at a more leisurely pace. I hope that in the future, there will be a system to book round-trip transportation on different dates. I was also surprised by how popular these somewhat inconveniently located places are among international visitors, even though many Japanese people have never been there. They're as popular as Takayama and Kyoto!
I received an email notification the night before the trip, but the tour guide's LINE ID was incorrect, so I couldn't contact them. After emailing to inquire, I received a reply from the guide around 7 AM the next morning. Since I stayed overnight in Nara, I chose to meet at the Kyoto sightseeing bus station the next morning. I got a little lost on the way and barely made it onto the bus at the last minute. The tour guide was Korean, and most of the tourists on the bus were also Korean. The guide would explain things in Korean and then briefly summarize in Chinese. The boat ride to feed the seagulls was a memorable part of the itinerary, although more eagles came than seagulls. The scenery at Amanohashidate was incredibly beautiful, and there were also simple amusement facilities for families to enjoy together. As for Ine Funaya, I personally found it just okay. The total travel time by bus for the day was about 5-6 hours, so if you're prone to motion sickness, remember to bring motion sickness medication just in case!
After eight years, I finally took a trip to Osaka again, and I also visited Kyoto, a place I really wanted to see, reminiscing about old memories. I was especially curious about Ine Funaya, so I booked a bus tour. For us, who love the sea and a tranquil atmosphere, it truly became an unforgettable trip! The day before, our guide, Mika-san, sent detailed instructions via KakaoTalk about the meeting point, and it wasn't too far from our Shinsaibashi accommodation, making travel convenient. It rained, but surprisingly, it stopped every time we went sightseeing, so we got great photos and barely got wet. Our first stop was Amanohashidate, where we had lunch immediately upon arrival. For those who have trouble finding a restaurant, Mika-san can help with reservations. We quietly enjoyed our meal at “Yajisan Senbei,” a place we had researched beforehand. Afterward, we took a cable car up to View Land. It was a small amusement park, perfect for some lighthearted fun, and the dango ice cream tasted even better thanks to the atmosphere. After staying for about two and a half hours, we moved on to Ine Funaya. As soon as we arrived, we took a pleasure boat to explore the village. The feeding experience, which we added on-site (around 2,200 yen per adult?), was also a unique and fun activity. It was a smaller village than I expected, but precisely because of that, its quiet and peaceful atmosphere was as beautiful and impressive as I had hoped. Above all, the best part of this tour was our guide, Mika-san! She meticulously shared everything from historical stories to restaurant recommendations, and her genuine passion for the tour made it even more satisfying. If I go again, I definitely want to participate with my parents! Thanks to her, it was a warm and healing trip to Kyoto's seaside village. Don't hesitate; I highly recommend booking the seaside village bus tour with Mika-san!
Traveling can be so stressful when you have to plan everything. We decided to give our brains a brake for the day and booked this tour. It was totally worth it. the pick up location was easy to find, but do keep it mind that there can be multiple buses for pick up by Gogoday. You will need to find the your guide/bus and seats are assigned. Then you just sit back and relax. We did not feel rushed. The tour was nicely planned and timed. We have a great day. We highly recommend this.
this tour the best was the tour guide JAY. he’s funny and give us very honest advise . enjoy this trip very much because of him , big thumb up for him :-) by the way , the view was stunning , and the feeding “seagull” was fun , if you go you will know what I mean :-)
The day before departure, we checked the weather forecast and it was good, so we signed up for the Sea of Kyoto day trip... That day we received an email notification with the tour guide's contact information and meeting point instructions, which made us feel very reassured. On the day of departure, we arrived at the meeting point, and the tour guide, Sean Shen Wan-Ping, explained things very diligently on the bus (Korean + Chinese). After getting off the bus, he enthusiastically helped us take photos and introduced and guided us through the attractions. Plus, the good weather made the trip comfortable. On the return trip, the tour guide also shared information about local Osaka cuisine. We felt that the good weather and the responsible tour guide made for a wonderful trip!!
Naomi was an amazing tour guide! Our experience was better because she gave us local recommendations, took some of our pictures and she’s very warm and welcoming, simply the best! The tour was really smooth, Amanohashidate is beautiful and Ine has a small town charm. I highly recommend this tour!
booking n redemption was easy. the day before the tour, our tour guide J contacted us and confirmed our reservation and meeting venue n time. On the actual morning, he contacted us to update on the exact bus pick up spot n time. Our tour guide was humorous and able to provide detailed information about the attractions . it was a wet morning and fortunately the sky cleared and we were able to enjoy the cable car ride, cruise and Ine village. the cable car ride was fun and my kids were able to manage on their own, do note that there’s no seat belt provided. the amusement park up on top was fun too and it’s JPY 400 per pax per ride. the seagulls feeding during the boat ride was the main highlight for my children. we were each given a packet of chips for feeding the seagulls. it’s recommended to get extra packets for the kids to have fun feeding them but beware of their poos when going to the upper deck. the Ine finishing village is beautiful.
