What to expect
Mt. Field offers a variety of walks in one of Tasmania’s oldest national parks. Most famous for Russell Falls and the Tall Trees Track, you can explore the great short walks within this diverse park, which is just a short 1.5-hour drive from Hobart.
The Three Falls Circuit and Tall Trees Walk form a loop of the lower rainforest section of Mount Field National Park. The full circuit walk of 6 km over reasonably easy terrain covers the park highlights of Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Lady Barron Falls, and the Tall Trees Track. You have the option and time to complete 1 waterfall, 2 waterfalls, or the whole circuit, depending on your sense of adventure for the day!
You will enjoy your lunch break in one of the many beautiful picnic settings in the National Park.

We had an unforgettable experience on our Mt Field, Wildlife, and Mt Wellington tour with our amazing guide, Clint! He was very punctual, friendly, and accommodating throughout the day. Along the drive, Clint shared lots of interesting stories and fun facts about Tasmania’s history, wildlife, and nature. We also visited Bonorong Sanctuary and got to meet the rescued wildlife — such a heartwarming experience! During our trek through Mt Field, Clint made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying the beautiful scenery. When we reached Mt Wellington, the wind was super strong — we almost got blown away! But Clint handled everything so well and made sure we were safe and still had fun. You can really tell he loves what he does. Highly recommend this tour and Clint as your guide!
Trevor is a ✨GEM✨ in Tasmania. There were only 4 of us on board and that made the entire experience more personal. We started our tour to Mt Field, which has some of the most beautiful falls I have ever seen. Trevor talked a lot about the life in the rainforest, it was a very in depth experience to hear it from someone who is passionate about nature. I learned about trees I have never heard of and its connection with other countries which was very interesting. I enjoyed the Wildlife Sanctuary finally meeting the Tasmanian Devil and I appreciate the efforts and work they are doing here. Our last stop was the breathtaking look out of Mt Wellington. This left me speechless. Overall, I am very satisfied booking this tour, it makes everything worthwhile and I highly recommend this to friends and anyone who’d like to experience Tasmania on a different level.
It was a small group with 6pax for this tour. Our driver guide, Ben, was informative and brought us on a good hike to explore the waterfalls at Mt Field. It was a fun experience feeding kangaroos at the wildlife sanctuary and catching sight of other animals. The sight at Mt Wellington was fabulous, just be prepared to face the cold and strong wind up the mountain.
Our tour guide Clinton was passionate and knowledgeable about the plants/ eco system of rainforest, it was an amazing trip not only enjoyable but also have some knowledge takeaways.
The trip is very good. The view on wellington and inside the hasting cave is amazing. The tour guide is also nice. I would definitely recommend my frd to join this tour.
I enjoyed the whole trip. The trekking, the scenery, the sanctuary. I am especially pleased with how the guide explained things along the journey. However, the trip ended so much earlier than the expected itinerary. Maybe the guide should consider allowing more time at Bonorong and Mt Wellington.
our guide, Ian, was absolutely wonderful. he was friendly and knowledgable, making the whole trip very enjoyable. the day started at 7.30am where we were picked up, then headed to new norfolk for a bathroom break + to get our lunch (a cooler bag provided to put our food). The hike was lovely and Ian was very familiar with the route and with the nature around us. Bonorong wildlife was cute, we got to meet rescued animals, both native and non-native to Tassie. It was a shame that mount welington was extremely cloudy, but it was nice to experience the cold! tips for everyone: IT GETS COLD! not sure about summer but up the mountains the temperature does drop and it can get icy cold! even with gloves my fingers felt numb🫢 also, it is a forest, so the shoes you wear matters - it has to comfortable and it will get dirty! it was a great day anyway!
wonderful experience. but i did not expect that we would have to walk on mt field for 2.5 hours. remember to bring thick clothes and wind jackets.
totally amazing, in a small group of 10. had a Great time, our guide did a good job looking after us, and gave so much information about Tasmania and the forest! animals are super cute aswell!
Highly recommend! 💯 We enjoyed it very much ☺️ it was a great way to explore hobart ♥️
