What to expect
Start your day with a fantastic half day scenic climb to the rim of Kings Canyon. Located at the heart of Watarrka National Park, the beautiful Kings Canyon lies in a sacred ground for the Ulpanyali and Lilla people. Get the privilege to explore the enigmatic wonder, while learning all about the culture and history of the sacred land with the help of your knowledgeable guide. You'll be fetched from your hotel early in the morning, and then taken straight to Kings Canyon. Once you arrive, you may choose to take the more challenging 3 hour climb to the canyon, or take the Creek Bed Walk if you're looking for something more slow paced. If you choose to climb, you'll follow your guide to the rim of the canyon. Prepare for quite a difficult hike as you walk around the rim of the canyon and climb up a 100 metre cliff face. But the six kilometer rocky landscape is well worth it as you'll be rewarded with fantastic views of the Watarrka National Park as soon as you reach the top. As a bonus, you'll also get to set your sights on The Garden of Eden - an oasis-like natural spring waterhole surrounded by exotic plants. If you choose to go for the Creek Bed Walk, you'll go on a more relaxed two kilometer stroll, while still taking in excellent views of the impressive canyon rim. Get those hiking shoes on, and prepare your climbing gear for a morning well spent!

- During the hotter months of the year where temperatures can reach and exceed 36° C or 97° F, the Watarrka National Park Rangers strongly advise that visitors do not take part in the Kings Canyon Rim Climb. In this drier desert climate heat exhaustion, over these hotter months, is a very high possibility and a danger in such remote regions. To ensure the safety, the merchant offer a guided walk along the Kings Canyon creek-bed as an alternative.
