🌟 The Richmond & Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary Half Day Tour was a nice mix of history and wildlife. Richmond is small and easy to walk around—pleasant but nothing too big. The real highlight was Bonorong. If you time your visit with their daily tour, it’s absolutely worth it: the guides share deep knowledge and give you close interactions with wombats, kangaroos, and Tasmanian devils. That experience made the day feel truly special.
It said that I could play for 4 hours, but the actual round trip time was 4 hours, which was different from what the customer service said. The driver was very good and introduced the attractions along the way. I missed the hotel because I was not good at English, so he took a detour to send me back to the hotel. Thank you! The zoo is great and I saw a lot of small animals, but it’s a pity that the time is too short. I recommend everyone to drive by themselves~
It was a lovely experience. The transfer was comfortable, and our guide was polite and pleasant. Wish we had more time at the sanctuary.
The tour was well organised and informative. Feeding the kangaroos, and meeting the Tasmanian Devil and the Echidna were highlights of the tour.
A simple half-day tour, including the picturesque town of Richmond, as well as the zoo where you can see the Tasmanian Devil and feed the kangaroos yourself, it is very leisurely and comfortable
Well worth the half day trip from Hobart. The sanctuary was definitely a highlight seeing the wombats, Tassie devils and echidnas in particular.
A little boring. The town and the zoo are both pretty average. Better to find somewhere to wander aimlessly in the city.
The trip is nice and Borong Wildlife Sanctuary is meaningful place.
This tour includes about one hour each in Richmond and Bonorong. I chose the half-day option because I didn’t rent a car and was tired, but overall the price felt disappointing. The guide drives the bus and provides brief commentary. Richmond is very small, and one hour of free time is enough to see the town. At Bonorong, you join a guided tour run by the zoo at a fixed time. However, many general visitors were already gathered to hear the commentary, which made it difficult to listen comfortably. Despite this, meeting rescued animals—many orphaned by roadkill or injured—and feeding kangaroos was a meaningful experience. This truly sets Bonorong apart from typical zoos in Sydney and nearby areas. Aside from this highlight, the overall value feels limited. Even including admission and transport, the price (AUD 125) feels high. If possible, visiting independently by car or choosing a full-day tour to Maria Island may offer better value.
I was able to see Tasmanian devils. The bus driver was our guide throughout the tour, and I wasn't bored at all. I didn't get lost finding the meeting place, and overall, there were no problems with the tour.
