This is a hidden gem of an experience! It's definitely worth the longer journey out to East Bali for this cooking class. Such a great value since the price covered transportation as well. The car ride takes you through a few local towns/villages where you can see plenty of rice fields. You can get an authentic view of how local Balinese live. The cooking class itself is located in a beautiful complex overlooking a scenic cliff (Melangit Bali Adventure). It's a spacious outdoor venue with clean toilets. There's also an infinity pool open for use (bring your swimwear)! They also offer kayaking in the river nearby. By attending this cooking class vs. others, you're supporting the local community in this less travelled part of Bali.
JAEN SAJAN “Delicious” | Fell in love with Balinese food so much that we decided to learn how to cook a few dishes. Started our day visiting a local wet market to buy ingredients and actually prepare our own lunch. Apart from going around seeing beautiful places, this right here is the kind of experience I look for when we travel. Matur Suksma, Melangit Adventure and Bakas Cooking Class! Especially to the kind team of Tude and his wife, Sri, Chef Nyoman, and Putung (who also captained our kayaking adventure).
Baccarat Cooking Class There was a pick-up in Kuta, so I applied without finding out the location, but it was quite far from Kuta; I was satisfied with everything except for the distance, and I recommend it. If you're staying in Ubud or upstairs, I think it'll be better because it's close. Two Australians, me and my daughter, we did it, and we didn't just imitate in a place with a beautiful view, but really cut and stir-fry and cook rice. I cooked, baked, and did it all. I made five kinds of vegetables, chicken curry, Pattaya soup, satay, and sweet potato rice. Before cooking, I bought fruit from the traditional market, gave me an appetizer, and wrapped the leftovers for dinner. It was so delicious and the staff were so kind. After I finished eating, I came back to play on a nearby swing. It was a good experience and the recipe was also provided, so I plan to make chicken curry later. My husband said that among the dishes I ate in Bali, the namul I made was the most delicious :)
This cooking class was literally the highlight day of our Bali trip! There was nothing touristy about cooking outdoors in the open with an incredible scenic backdrop, utilising amazing local produce and learning from Neuman (a Balinese MasterChef!) and the rest of Gede's team! Highly recommend to anyone with an interest in cooking and learning traditional Balinese methods
So happy to have found the Bakas cooking class on Klook. Trip included, transfers to and from hotel, a visit to gianyar market, a walk through rice fields, then you get to the restaurant where the magic happens. Breathtaking views while you chop fruit and veggies, cook satay on a grill, and smell aromatic spices while you stir. Then, you get to enjoy the flavours, an absolute banquet. An amazing experience from beginning to end. Thank you to Ketut, the chef and Gede the guide. I am so stuffed!
Started off with a morning market tour. The market is in a building (vs. a traditional open air market) and many stalls were closed due to Ramadan or covid. The most enjoyable part is the cooking class which is the main point. We cooked 6 dishes... a young papaya soup, curry chicken, chicken sate lilit, 2 veggie dishes and a dessert. We prepared everything from scratch. Food was tasty as we cooked under the supervision of a local chef. Cook with a valley view right in front of you. Very enjoyable, don't miss it!
There was no other team, so only my husband and I did it privately. It is said that the place where the cooking class is held is a recently opened place. The experience of cooking with a clean and open view was different and enjoyable. I also saw monkeys along the way. At first, he explained the ingredients of Bali and kindly taught me how to prepare them, so you can easily make delicious dishes without cooking experience.
We had an amazing time. Everything was handled smoothly with clear communication, and they accommodated our need to end earlier. I've done cooking classes in many countries, and this has been my favorite. We made so many dishes, all amazing!
my husband attended the cooking class he really loves the class , he learned traditional Balinese food and very convenient there is pick up and drop off included surely we recommend this but it's nicer if 2 of you will do the class .
highly recommended. great way to enjoy some of balinese culture. hosts were warm amd welcoming, cooking was a lot of fun and tasted great!
