Diving / Open Water Course at Menjangan Marine Park by Dive Concepts

Very good instructor, the coral is amazing . We really enjoyed the experience.

I booked the Open Water Diving course with Dive Concepts in Pemuteran, but my experience as a beginner was far from positive. On the first day, the instructor seemed frustrated when I couldn’t perform the skills as expected. His impatience created stress for both of us, and I later found out from our tour operator that the instructor had discussed my struggles with a local villager, who happened to be a friend of our tour operator. This was unprofessional and added unnecessary stress to an already challenging learning experience.On the second day, we had two short shore dives (around 30 minutes each), which didn’t allow enough time to practice important skills like buoyancy control and manually inflating the BCD. By the third day, we were meant to dive at Menjangan Island, but since our skills weren’t up to standard, we were given the option to either do trial dives or continue the course elsewhere. We chose the trial dives and aborted the course, after which Dive Concepts issued us a Referral Diver certificate.It wasn’t until a recent introductory dive at the USAT Liberty Shipwreck with a PADI master instructor that we realized how poorly Dive Concepts had delivered the course. The difference in instruction was significant, and we now plan to restart the Open Water course with that master instructor next year.Based on this experience, I wouldn’t recommend Dive Concepts for absolute beginners. If you’re new to diving, I suggest finding a shop with instructors who offer more patient and professional guidance.
