Guide
Lingqi Dongtian is the outdoor filming location for classic hit dramas such as "Journey to the West," "Investiture of the Gods," and "Butterfly Lovers." The uniqueness of Lingqi Dongtian lies in its three distinct karst caves, offering visitors three completely different cave exploration experiences. The scenic area open to visitors for small boat tours of Lingquan Cave includes Lingquan Cave, Qingfeng Cave, and Aiyun Cave, three natural limestone caves, as well as a small stone forest maze.
Lingquan Cave (Small Boat Adventure)
Upon entering the scenic area, the first stop is Lingquan Cave, which boasts a rich underground water system and requires a small boat tour, lasting about 10 minutes. This damp journey is very cool; standing at the entrance, you can feel the faint coolness emanating from deep within the cave. As you enter the cave by boat, you'll see strange rocks illuminated by colorful lights everywhere, and their reflections in the water are even more dreamlike. The boatman will point out interesting sights, water droplets occasionally fall from the cave ceiling, and in lower sections, even people on the boat need to bend down to pass, giving a mysterious feeling of an underground adventure. This is a filming location for the 1983 version of "Journey to the West," and a statue of a white dragon stands on the bank inside the cave, a prop left over from the filming, which can evoke childhood memories for those born in the 80s.
Qingfeng Cave (Summer Escape)
After exiting Lingquan Cave, continue walking uphill for a while to reach Qingfeng Cave halfway up the mountain. As the name suggests, Qingfeng Cave is known for its wind; the temperature inside the cave remains around 17 degrees Celsius year-round, with a constant breeze, making it a good choice for escaping the summer heat. Inside Qingfeng Cave, the strange rocks vividly resemble the four auspicious beasts: dragon, phoenix, qilin, and turtle. It is said that the name "Lingqi" (meaning "spiritual dwelling") originated from this.
Aiyun Cave (Magnificent Clouds and Mist)
Continuing forward, reaching the higher Aiyun Cave requires a short uphill walk. The mountain is not high, so it won't be too strenuous. However, seeing the clouds and mist overflowing from Aiyun Cave requires some serendipity; the probability is higher on days just after rain or in winter. In contrast, the landscape inside Aiyun Cave is magnificent. Two "Coiling Dragon Twin Pillars," each 20 meters high, connect the cave ceiling to the ground, creating an imposing sight. In the "East Sea Spectacle" hall, there is a "Sea-Stabilizing Needle" only 10 centimeters thick but 7 meters high, which makes people marvel.
Return Route: Stone Forest Maze and Exciting Slide
After exploring the three caves, you can walk back down the mountain along the original path. At the intersection near Qingfeng Cave, turn right to the Stone Forest Maze to admire the various shaped iconic stones. For those who want to save energy, you can also take a slide directly down to the foot of the mountain. The slide costs about 45 yuan per person extra; generally, it's quite stable, but when turning, it's enough to make your heart race, making it an interesting experience.
Special New Project: Lingqi Koala Forest Jungle Adventure
