What to wear

• When entering all mosques (Blue Mosque, Süleymaniye Mosque), both men and women should wear clothing that covers their shoulders, arms, and knees. Women must cover their hair with a headscarf. Men should wear long trousers and avoid shorts above the knee. It is recommended to bring your own scarf as a backup; free shawls, robes, or headscarves are usually available for loan at the entrance.
• Shoes must be removed before entering the mosque. Shoe racks or plastic bags are provided at the entrance for storage. Considering that the stone floor can be very cold in winter, it is recommended to wear thick socks.
• In addition to mosques, it is also advisable to dress appropriately in official places such as Topkapi Palace, avoiding sleeveless tops or shorts.
• Layered dressing: Due to large temperature differences between morning and evening, you can wear a short-sleeved shirt inside and a long-sleeved cardigan outside, which is convenient to put on before entering the temple. Also, bring a light jacket for unexpected needs.
