Good to know
- Xinjiang belongs to the Northwest region, and its economy differs from that of the inland areas, so there are differences in food, accommodation, and transportation. We appreciate your understanding.
- There is a two-hour time difference between Xinjiang and the inland areas; Beijing time is used for work and rest. Xinjiang's rest time is around 00:00 at night, and work time is around 10:00 in the morning.
- The temperature difference between morning and evening is significant, with a maximum difference of about 20 degrees Celsius. When sleeping at night, the air conditioning should be set to an appropriate temperature; do not make it too cold or sleep without a quilt, which may cause physical discomfort.
- Due to Xinjiang's vast territory, travel by car takes a long time. In many cases, tourists need to get off and walk or personally experience the fun of riding horses or camels. Therefore, a pair of suitable shoes is particularly important.
- Many areas in Xinjiang are at high altitudes, and ultraviolet radiation is strong. Tourists should prepare sufficient and effective sunscreens, and also bring medicines or granules for clearing heat, quenching thirst, and moisturizing, to avoid being unable to withstand the overly dry and hot climate. Please bring your own motion sickness medicine.
- When traveling in Xinjiang, due to the long itinerary and large temperature differences, tourists may experience symptoms of acclimatization, such as gastrointestinal colds and diarrhea. Be sure to pay attention to dietary hygiene and carry common medicines, such as band-aids, cold medicine, or medicines for gastrointestinal discomfort.
- Xinjiang is a land of fruits, and eating fruit in Xinjiang is a great pleasure. However, never drink hot tea after eating fruit, as it may cause diarrhea.
- Xinjiang is home to many ethnic minorities with strong religious beliefs. Ethnic groups that believe in Islam do not eat pork, etc. Please respect ethnic cultures.
- In most parts of Xinjiang, the quoted price for weighed goods is per kilogram (except for Hotan in Southern Xinjiang). Therefore, when purchasing weighed goods, please confirm whether the quoted price is per kilogram or per jin (a traditional Chinese unit of weight). When purchasing tourist souvenirs at a bazaar (market), please bargain only after you have decided to buy. Serious bargaining behavior may cause dissatisfaction from the seller. If the transaction is not successful, please also be polite and courteous. It is best to ask your tour guide to recommend some shopping places before purchasing, and precious items such as jade are best purchased at designated stores.
