I visited Sant Pau Hospital on May 1, 2026. I hesitated about going in, but since I was there, I decided to book a same-day tour, and it was absolutely the right decision. The exterior is beautifully and impressively adorned with colorful decorations, but the interior is also much larger than I expected, and the ability to explore at a leisurely pace is a major draw. It's hard to believe it's a hospital, as the design attention to detail is so meticulous, creating a space that feels more like an art museum. There were relatively few people, allowing for a calm and enjoyable viewing experience, and with so many highlights, I was very satisfied. Furthermore, there are many photo spots where you can see the Sagrada Familia, making photography enjoyable as well. It's a highly recommended tourist destination where you can appreciate both architecture and scenic views.
Visiting experience of Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona Hospital de Sant Pau is one of the most representative Catalan modernist buildings in Barcelona. Designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, it is a World Cultural Heritage along with the Sagrada Familia. This hospital was originally built to care for the poor, but has now been transformed into a cultural center and is open to the public. The architectural style is stunning, full of details and Art Nouveau style. The red brick buildings are matched with colorful mosaics and stained glass, and are as beautiful as a palace. The park consists of several independent buildings, each with a unique design, such as mosaic-decorated domes, carved arches, handmade tiles, etc., and details are everywhere. The combination of stained glass and natural light makes the interior space look bright and dreamy.
very impressive building. and this will be the only one and unique. current modern building will never have this craftsmanship and budget to begin with
This is not a part of Gaudí architecture, but you should visit here. I cannot imagine this was a hospital before, but it was well developed hospital by recent.
It’s the nicest hospital I have ever been!!! So glad to have such a wonderful experience, the architecture is stunning. If they can sell the oranges in grow, would be much better!!
Beautiful place, definitely worth a visit! No need for skip the line tickets, there’s a slight flexibility to the timing for people who are running late.
This has to be the most beautiful hospital in the world. And it is for the poor people! You would have been missing something if you decide to skip this tourist attraction.
The movement between venues will pass through the outdoors, so remember to bring rain gear on rainy days. It is recommended to purchase an audio guide on site (available in Chinese, 4 euros). With the pictures on the guide, you will have a better understanding of the architect Dominic's foresight in the construction of the St. Paul's Hospital campus.
