The Spirit of Kintsugi
Everyone is imperfect, and at times, our hearts get hurt and broken. Even so, we heal, overcome, and carry on with those wounds. Eventually, we become stronger and more beautiful than before.
Kintsugi is the same. Instead of simply repairing broken items, we transform the cracks into new brilliance, reborn into a more beautiful form than before.
Scars are not flaws, but stories and strengths. That is the power of Kintsugi.

My friends and I enjoyed Mayo’s workshop a lot. Everything was provided and there’s nothing to prepare, just walk in. There was a selection of broken plates, and we all picked something we liked. Mayo was very patient and instructed each of us individually. She also helped us with our work when we got stuck. We got to choose gold or silver for the mending as well. After the workshop, Mayo provided caffeine free tea and yummy shortbreads for us while she helped us with some final adjustments (or, saving them). We’re all different on the level of artistry, from failing art at school to professional, but we all get to take a cute little plate home in the end. We absolutely recommend anyone who wants to experience this to the workshop.
very good experience. the teacher is very kind. she speaks good english and introduce the history of kintsugi location is easy to find. easy to do, a good lesson to start with.
Mayo was lovely and a great teacher! We loved the pieces we got to ‘fix’ and there were some other beautiful items you can buy whilst there. It was a really nice touch to have the tea and okinawan cookies whilst waiting for the pieces to set. Thanks again :) Would deffo recommend!
The workshop helps you slow down and see as much as possible amidst all the hustle and bustle. The two instructors are very caring, and the little bowls are simply beautiful.
this was a wonderful experience with beautiful souvenirs to boot. The instructors were generous with their time and explanations and my daughters and I had a great time.
We made some cute little plates and had a fun time with Mayo and her colleague. It is maybe important to know, that this technique is not for food and drinks, as it's only glue and not resin. the traditional technique takes weeks or months to make and dry, so just fyi :) still cute as decoration or for storage.
I enjoyed what ended up being a one to one Kintsugi experience and repaired a small dish of my choosing (out of what they had on offer). I learnt about the history of the art of Kintsugi whilst creating my own piece with support from the teacher. Whilst I waited for my piece to dry I was offered a refreshing tea and Okinawa biscuit. I also purchased a couple of additional pieces the studio had previously made, a couple of pendants, a badge and magnet which will make great gifts. The teacher was very kind and helpful and even called a couple of local restaurants for me to dine in after the class, she made a great recommendation.
Kintsugi class was fun and educational! The staff was friendly, helpful, and very attentive. Studio was easy to find and very pretty. Bonus that you get to take home your piece of art! Definitely recommend!
An incredible experience to be able to do your own Kintsugi. We were shown through the process and it was very hands on so you can really feel proud of making something to take away at the end. Ms Mayo helped at each step and guided us through, as well as some suprise tea and mochi while we waited for our pieces to set! Really unique and fun experience in Naha!
Such a beautiful little studio with very friendly and skilled staff. Would highly recommend.
