Tony was absolutely the best tour guide we could have asked for on this trip! The drive to Alishan involves some winding roads, but he drove so smoothly and safely that we felt completely comfortable in the car. He is a fantastic conversationalist who kept us entertained during the long drive, and he really knows his way around the Alishan forests. A highlight was when he took us to a quiet village to have lunch and watch the train pass by—a spot we wouldn't have found on our own. He even brought his own camera and shared high-quality photos of us and the scenery afterward. I was traveling with my senior parents, and Tony was incredibly patient and made the entire experience easy for them. We highly recommend booking him for a group tour!
It was a great 2 days trip and totally worth it to go to Alishan (one day would have been too rush and not having enough time to enjoy Alishan/ Chiayi/ Taichung). Mr B. Tsai was very accommodating and flexible with itinerary, especially with kid. That’s the benefit of having private tour as we were able to change itinerary to suit us. He also dropped us off at Taoyuan airport af the end of the tour as per request. Accommodation was clean, quiet with beautiful view of tea farm. Will definitely book with them for other tours when next visit Taiwan.
We had Tony as our tour guide and he was very chill, friendly and knowledgable about the areas. He shared with us his enthusiasm for photography and it really carried through in all the pictures he took for us! Tony was very accommodating of our time and energy levels and often had alternative suggestions depending on our energy that day. We stayed at a lodging in the middle of the forest and enjoyed trying tea and seeing the tea plantations there as well as making mochi the traditional way. He took us to an outlook for sunrise photos but unfortunately due to weather, it was partially covered by fog (however we still thought it was a very beautiful view regardless and Tony showed us how to get some good angles for our own photos that we took). It was overall a very stress free and relaxing trip and Tony made many recommendations on what taiwanese foods to try and buy from the vendors which were all delicious. We really appreciate Tony’s enthusiasm for the area and friendliness.
The pre-tour was not as smooth as we'd like as we didn't receive final driver/tour guide info until 8pm the night before our tour. Wished we'd know in advance that we can use WhatsApp or FB to connect given we're traveling internationally. But, once started the actual tour, everything went extremely well. Robert (Mr. Huang) was our driver and tour guide, and he was wonderful. Took a lot of pictures for the two us, which was quite welcomed as we are not selfie experts. He knows the area very well and took us to less touristy local spots that had exceptional views but without the crowds. We got to take the famous Alishan railroad, walk amongst the great red cypress trees, stayed in a B&B that's in the clouds, and of course got to see the amazing sunrise at Alishan! All in all, we're very happy with our tour, a bit pricey, but well worth it.
Had a great time with Robert driving down to Alishan and Chiayi taking in the beautiful scenery and Japanese architecture. It was a comfortable pace and hikes were easy to moderate intensity. The bed and breakfast we stayed at was very clean and quaint -- they went out of their way to ask about my dietary restrictions/needs. Since it was in the Alishan mountains, we had a lovely view of the tea farmland. Highly recommend!
We had a great time in Alishan (despite of the rain) with Tony who planned and took us all around, on the mountain, shopping at the hinoki village, tasting incredible donut in Fenqihu, the original bubble tea... Being so friendly and helpful made the experience a great souvenir of our Taiwan trip!
Fantastic expeience and well worth the money. Tony was a fanstatic driver as well as friendly and articulate. Also becasue he knew I like photograpy he made sure we found the best spots at the best times to take the photos. We got to little places the big buses would have stuggeld at. We stayed at an indigenous run hotel at Alishan which had a great sunrise view - better than fighting the hoards of people at the popular view for the same outcome. Also once he knew I was getting tired with some of the walking (I am older with a bad leg and there are lots of hills) he would drop us, go park the car then come back for the tour and then do the reverse - very considerate. Definitely use him again.
5 stars across the board. Our guide Kevin was very helpful, even customizing our itinerary to fit our energy levels and preference. Trip was worth the effort and money! Highly recommend
It was a wonderful way to see Alishan if you have little time. Alishan forest is memorable. In the evening, we stayed in a “resort” in the middle of the forest. We enjoyed the resort but it way too far to see the sunrise at Alishan’s peak. We were offered an alternative but were not sure of the path so we didn’t get to see the sunrise. The guide Paul was friendly and helpful. He had to drive a long detour as we were caught in a big jam coming back from Jiaoyi.
It is a good tour indeed. Relaxing, breath taking view, very knowledgeable guide :)
