What an amazing tour! Mike was very a great guide and very knowledgeable about the towns and their history. Some of the small museums has very little information provided, but Mike was able to give us thorough explanations with engaging storytelling. We would never have found out about the wood carving village Inami, but it was such a great place to learn about local history and craft traditions. This tour provide very good value and never upcharged us or surprised us with unknown fees. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone looking to explore beyond Kanazawa.
we are the only 2 customers, and tour guide Adeline happens to be from hong kong as well, so we use Cantonese to communicate. she’s fantastic to recommend good places to eat. Inami and Ainokura Village are certainly off the beaten track and we can enjoy the tranquility there without loads of tourists. the making of Japanese papers is certainly interesting. of course Shirakawa is very beautiful as well. this tour is highly recommended.
I had an absolutely brilliant time during this tour! Our tour guide was very insightful, knowledgeable, and knew the locals well! We were able to try some local handmade sweets as well as warm tea for free, while searching for all the little kittens around Inami! Stunning history and views. I'd highly recommend. The transfer for me heading from Kanazawa to Takayama was incredibly easy. They just took my bags to the other bus for me, I didnt have to lift a finger! I'd say the only con for me is booking with Klook, you annoyingly can't just book one ticket so I had to buy 1 adult and 1 child ticket even though it was just me :( so for any solo travellers reading this I'd recommend booking directly with the tour guide company instead for a better deal!
The trip was a breathtaking and unforgettable experience. Our tour guide, Daniel’s friendly personality and enthusiasm made the entire tour feel warm and welcoming. He was attentive to the group’s needs, always ready to answer questions, and made sure everyone had the best experience possible.
I loved it! It was my first time in Shirakawa-gō and I loved every moment of this tour. We were able to visite some non touristy temple and we went to make some handmade peppers it gokayama! It was a great experience. The weather was with us. It was really sunny and the villages where not crowded so the entire experience was peaceful! Thanks to our amazing guide we had a great experience
just as described, and very welcoming guide, we've been to all the spots that we wanted and it was a premium small group with 8 people including us 3. Really appreciated with this random choice turned to a surprise
The itinerary was well-organized with plenty of time to explore each attraction. Our guide, Daniel gave clear explanations, took great care of the group, and we enjoyed a fun hands-on washi paper making experience. Shirakawa-go still had some melting snow, but the scenery was absolutely stunning. Travel times from Kanazawa were reasonable overall (only the first leg was longer).
It was a lovely day trip, Inami is small but beautiful and the craft of the master woodcarvers is impressive with and equally impressive Shrine, the hidden wooden cats along town were a great touch, Ainakura is a little town with the same architectural style of houses as shirakawa go but with less general activity, great sights and we had a great meal at the soba and udon restaurant, the paper making experience was fun and really interesting to watch and learn, shirakawa go is beautiful, we got the chance to enter one of the houses and take a look at the history of the family who lived there, the sights at the observatory are breathtaking, overall the trip was excellent, our guide Emily was really kind and informative, she even gave us some suggestions for dinner back at kanazawa, thank you so much
Incredible excursion! Inami is truly an incredible place where EVERYTHING is carved from wood, it's magnificent 🤩 and so peaceful! And of course, the villages are worth the detour! I recommend it 100%
Lee was a fantastic guide and gave us very relevant and interesting insight into Japanese culture and traditions. He knew his way around each site and it was clear the locals were familiar with him as well. He also gave excellent food recommendations for Kanazawa and other parts of Japan! Wear boots with good traction if going in the winter!
