Fantastic

Solo stay

Friendly and helpful, picked me up from train station and took me to Narita. Very quiet, took a nice walk around the area, across the street from rice paddies.

Fantastic

Solo stay

I had never stayed in a traditional Japanese hotel (I would call this a bed and breakfast) before, so this was really a nice experience. The building is in immaculate condition and it's very clean. It does have common bathrooms, so that was a bit of a surprise. The couple who runs the Fukurou Tei are nice and very helpful. The wife was also fluent in English, which helped me quite a bit. It is located kind of in the middle of nowhere, which is both good and bad. I specifically wanted to see rural Japan. So this hotel put me right in the middle of that. The downside was the nearest train station was a VERY long walk. Fortunately, the owners were willing to give me a ride. And while they added to my bill for this, it was far cheaper than calling a cab. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at this hotel.

My friend and I had a 20 hr layover in Tokyo. We decided to stay at Fukurou Tei for an authentic experience. We didn't go wrong. Ms. Eva's and Mr. Hero were very nice, Mr. Hero picked us up from the airport and it was about an 30 min drive to the hotel. He even took us back into the city, so we could catch the bus to Tokyo. He was even so kind to pick us up from the airport the next morning at 2:40 AM, after we had explored Tokyo! Ms. Eva was also very helpful. She wrote instructions to how to ride the bus to Tokyo. It was a BIG help. Her breakfast was wonderful! I don't eat fish, but she made salmon for breakfast and it was delicious. I wish I had more now. Everyone should stay here, you won't regret it!

Fantastic
Gorgeous place in a beautiful setting, perfect for some light hiking to some amazing local shrines and nature. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful (even took my husband into town to grab some things for dinner one night). And the food Iwy cooks is amazing! Especially her little fish and cheese things and the fish in these amazing sauces, loads of traditional dishes made from local produce fresh and amazing. So yum! We even got to try on some traditional japanese outfits which the kids really loved especially my 15year old daughter. I stayed here with my husband and 2 children and loved the experience and the amazing hospitality, truly was an amazing place to wind down away from the bustle of the city. Thank you so much for an amazing time, you really are the best most courteous hosts.

The owners were very gracious. The guesthouse is located in a rural setting surrounded by rice fields. A Japanese temple complex is nearby and can be explored. I would recommend this guesthouse to those who want a retreat from the city life of Tokyo.
