Transport in Christchurch

The train was spacious and the scenery was stunning. The train food were mostly microwavable food and packaged snacks. We were able to move seats whenever we liked as our train carriage was mostly empty. The open carriage offers better views but it can be really cold due to the stong wind. Unexpectedly, it snowed on the Arthur's Pass on our trip back to Christchurch which was a pleasant surprise!

Kaikoura is a must go place in South New Zealand, and the costal railway is definitely a must to take! very beautiful view

Arrive at the station at least 20 minutes early to exchange your voucher for a ticket. It's quick and convenient. The outbound trip was a bit noisy due to a tour group, but the weather was great that day, making the entire journey comfortable and scenic. It's a great option if you don't want to drive.
