Bintan

We had a wonderful time on the Blue Lake and Mangrove tour in Bintan! Our driver, Atong, was punctual, polite, and seemed to know everyone everywhere he went. He was also very thoughtful — offering us umbrellas under the scorching hot sun. Our mangrove guide, Eddy, was fantastic! He was entertaining, knowledgeable, and had an incredibly sharp eye — spotting wildlife from far away that we would’ve easily missed. After the mangrove tour, Atong brought us to the Blue Lake. Theres a photographer who helped us to take a few photos with his camera and shortly after the photos were kindly airdropped to us at no additional cost. We also opted for the additional $12 lunch — definitely worth it! The spread was generous, tasty, and just the right portion, though we still ended up with quite a bit of leftover food. The trip ended with a short stop at the souvenir shop. Overall, a very pleasant and memorable experience — highly recommended!

Mr Adrian was an excellent tour guide. Helped take really nice photos for us and even helped carry our older kids up the steep stairs at the dunes. He was very knowledgeable as well! very fortunate to have his as a guide. The place was really beautiful and it is definitely a must visit! Took many very scenic lovely photos and was impressed by the dunes and the blue lakes! don't miss out the green lake too!

Okay, Koreans, listen up! I was worried because there weren't many Korean reviews, but it was much better than I expected. They picked us up from the hotel and took photos and videos with a GoPro while snorkeling. We also got to kayak and fish as much as we wanted. I didn't catch any fish, but they waited until I said I was done, so I fished for 2 hours and 30 minutes, haha. They even gave us delicious local ramen in between and dinner at a local restaurant on the way back. I highly recommend the course that includes a massage. My boyfriend even snored while getting a massage, lol. It was so good that we went back to the same place after showering and resting at our accommodation, haha. The massage parlor owner was surprised and asked why we came back again, lol. It was that good. You might think the price is a bit high, but the massage costs 35,000 won, and when you include the cost of food and transportation that takes over 2 hours round trip, it feels worth it. I highly recommend it!!!

I saw on the news that Grab service is now available in Bintan, but it seems like the area is somewhat limited (because I turned on Grab in the middle and it said it wasn't available in that area). I felt a bit lost about how to find transportation, so I searched for a day tour and booked it urgently a day before, and I think it was an excellent choice. Because the guide was so, so great!! 🥳 I don't know if it's a random assignment or if only this guide is assigned, but the guide's name was Anwar, and communication was smooth via KakaoTalk even late at night. Before meeting, he carefully gave accurate pick-up location information again, the car was clean, and he prepared bottled water in the car in advance. Oh, and another great thing was that Anwar had a drone and even filmed with it! He said he wasn't a great expert, but I thought he was skilled enough to film, and he even let me fly the drone once, haha. I had a very enjoyable time. Originally, he explained the Chinese temple on the way to Blue Lake and said we'd stop by on the way back, but the last speedboat time was 6 pm, so we had to rush back ㅠㅠㅋㅋㅋ I highly recommend it to anyone planning to go to Bintan!! It's a shame that I can't attach the video! Oh, and you have to get to Bintan Island on your own, and the tour starts from Bintan Island! There are many eagles or owls there, and it's okay to just take pictures, but it seems like you have to pay if you take pictures with them. I was scared, so I didn't do it, but those who are interested should keep that in mind, haha. I went to Blue Lake around 2-4 pm on a weekday, and it was nice because there were no people or sunlight, but they say Blue Lake looks bluer when there is sun. Well, I thought it was good enough.

The best and most romantic trip. Our driver, Dodi, was very kind and pleasant. We were able to communicate with him in English without any issues. He was also very punctual, and we had a very meaningful time. We also did a firefly tour in Kota Kinabalu, but it wasn't great because the ferry was too big, crowded, and chaotic. We were worried about the weather, but the Bintan mangrove tour was very quiet, and we were able to see fireflies that looked like Christmas trees. It was a very satisfying experience. Thank you to both Dodi and the tour guide.

We engaged the driver for 2 days (4 hours each day) and had such a pleasant experience. He was very accommodating to both the young and elderly in our group, always adjusting to our needs and requests. His thoughtful recommendations made it easy for us to see the best of Bintan without feeling rushed. Quite a fun experience for the kids and adults. Decided to rent the buggy for 500 000 rupiah, feeding experience is 350 000 rupiah, consisting of carrots (rabbit), kang kong (deer), one piece of chicken (crocodile), banana (orange utan), fish food, banana (cassowary), chicken feed (water hens, cucumber (ostrich). Terrain is undulating so if walking have a good pair of shoes. Elephants were away for the day, otherwise other than animals above, saw tigers, many birds like kites, white bellied sea eagles, hornbill, pythons and constrictors, otters,lizards. photo taking opportunity at the end with the fishing owl. overall great fun for the kids!
