The car rental is just opposite Sendai station, it’s easy to spot and pick up was really quick and simple. Do ask about the Tohoku ETC pass if you’re intending to use the expressways a lot.

Turns out there's a shuttle bus for picking up and returning the car, which is pretty convenient. But be aware that you need to reserve an ETC card in advance; the office doesn't have cards available for on-site purchase.

The car pick-up and return process was smooth and quick. The shuttle van to the airport responded quickly, arriving within minutes of the call. The ride was only two or three minutes. The vehicle was clean inside and out and in good condition. The Nissan e-Power felt similar to driving an electric car, which was a very good experience.
