The trip was so good. We went to the zoo in the morning and then to umi jigoku, seeing mount yufu on the way to yufuin. Our guide Nicole Yang was very good in explaining and very helpful. She help me taking pictures since I am a solo traveler.
The overall schedule was smooth and unhurried. 30 minutes at Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell) was fine, 2 hours was enough to explore the zoo, and we spent only 15 minutes at Mount Futago for a quick photo op. Finally, 2 hours at Yufuin/Lake Kinrin was perfect for photos and shopping. Luckily, we didn't take the zoo's feeding car because seating is limited, you can't stand, you can't feed every animal, and photos don't turn out well; it would also be more difficult on a hot day. We arrived a little after 12 PM, and the tour guide helped some group members buy a few feeding car tickets. We found it better to tour by bus. I recommend sitting on the side behind the driver, as almost all the animals are on one side. Afterward, we had free time to explore on our own, where we could pet guinea pigs and see horses and monkeys. Our tour guide, Xiao Wang, was very attentive, offering reminders, recommendations, and helping us take photos. Thumbs up!
Selina is really accomodating us. despite the weather was not really good (rainy), but she still doing amazing great job. we were family trip. Departing from Hakata, and we part way because we stay in Beppu.
I'm Korean, and I chose this option because I wanted to spend more time at the safari. Choosing the two-hour option was an excellent decision. Although I don't speak English well, our guide, ADA, kindly explained everything in English, so I didn't experience any inconvenience throughout the trip. There were quite a few Chinese visitors, but everyone was well-mannered and punctual, which made for a pleasant trip. If you're visiting Fukuoka, I highly recommend dedicating a day to the safari, Hell's Hot Springs, and Yufuin.
Today's tour was really fun. I was worried because the weather was cloudy in the morning, but it gradually cleared up, so I took a lot of great pictures. First, I went to the Umi Jigoku (sea hell), then the safari, and finally to Kawakami in Yufuin-cho. Kodama Rikuto's explanation was perfect, and the English explanation was easy to understand. He explained Umi Jigoku in detail, and at the safari, I was even able to see the cheetah, which is usually inside its enclosure. I was also very grateful that he sent Korean explanations of the origin and disasters of Kawakami in Yufuin-cho separately via KakaoTalk to the Koreans. He was a really great guide. Thank you. Thank you for sending me the restaurant you know via KakaoTalk at the end. I won't spread the word. 😆😆😆😆
yufuin is really beautiful! We had the most amazing pork katsu udon all thanks to guide Jing’s recommendation. just get a queue number from the restaurant and use that time to explore yufuin. We purposely chose a weekday mid dec (strangely almost all shops were closed) to go to the safari, unfortunately they had lesser jungle buses in operation so we toured the safari in our coach. remember to go to the petting zoo at the safari. they let you hold the guinea pig on your lap!
30 minutes at Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell) is just right, not too rushed. 2 hours at the zoo was excellent, with plenty of animal interaction time. The 1-hour safari bus tour to see the wild animals was much better than the Jungle Car, and clearer! There was 1 hour of free time in the small animal area, where you can feed the animals! 2 hours was just right. Other tours only have 90 minutes, so I deliberately chose this 2-hour tour, and they didn't cheat me!! Finally, we took photos at the Yufuin trailhead, beautiful! 2 hours of free time in Yufuin; I was staying overnight at a Yufuin onsen hotel, so I left my suitcase on the tour bus and picked it up at the last stop. This is quite perfect, except the tour bus stopped near Snoopy, and I wasn't notified in advance, so I walked 15 minutes to the hotel and was very tired.
The tour guide was very kind and the explanations were very detailed, and the stay time was just right. The zoo itinerary was especially unexpected. We didn't miss any large animals and got better pictures than from the cage car. Feeding the ponies was also very satisfying, and their gluttonous appearance was incredible. Watching the cat house was also quite wonderful. The souvenir shop had many cute photos and plush toys for sale. It's just a pity that the autumn leaves at Kinrin Lake had already withered, otherwise it would have been even more perfect. As for the Yufuin itinerary, if it weren't for the tour guide's explanation, we might have missed the entrance to the side street. The tour guide was really helpful. The only thing is that if you don't need to pre-purchase attraction tickets, it should be stated in the order. If Kinrin Lake has autumn leaves, the itinerary could add half an hour in Yufuin.
Since she is fluent in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese, she gave us detailed explanations and interesting stories about each place we went to. She was sensible and accurate in telling us the time, and she told us where to take pictures, what kind of food was delicious, and which course would be most efficient to take. She was kind. The kids followed the guide's words well, saying that they had to follow everything she said, and they liked it because it was so hard, but they had fun, and the schedule ended with them shouting "Awesome!" ㅎㅎ And I was worried because I didn't have much experience driving overseas, but since it was quite far from Hakata Station, I'm more satisfied with using a guide. I slept comfortably on the way there and back! However, the course description seemed to include the zoo admission ticket, but when I checked the inclusions again, it was not included, so there was an additional fee, and when I added a car seat because my child was young, it cost more than I thought, so I was a little surprised. However, it was an unavoidable item, and the guide kindly explained the whole story, so it was okay. The zoo was quite large and I was able to see the animals up close, so I didn't regret not taking the safari tour bus. In fact, since there were no iron bars, I was able to see the animals more closely through the large glass windows. Thanks to this, I had a very fulfilling day. This is the guide I want to use on my next trip. I highly recommend it!!
I was very flustered because the schedule that I had confirmed several times in advance changed, but the guide Moon explained it very kindly and was very considerate throughout the trip, so I was able to travel with a happy heart! I went with a baby, and I am grateful to the guide and the people I traveled with for taking care of me in many ways! Thanks to you, I had a great time on my first overseas trip with the kids! The purpose of the safari bus tour was to move comfortably and the wide-open window view made my wish come true! Yufuin and Yufudake were also beautiful. It was the most satisfying day during my trip to Fukuoka! The cool guide Moon who speaks three languages~~ She's amazing! She explained each course in Chinese and Korean, and she made a guide map herself, and she told me about good restaurants and must-see courses, so it was great! I recommend it 🩵💙
