Host Introduction
Hi, I'm Cici, your host and a professional pastry chef! I've been teaching Chinese cuisine to expatriates and foreign tourists in China for over 10 years. I really enjoy promoting traditional Chinese culinary culture through these classes, while also interacting and getting to know people from all over the world. I get to do what I love and unlock cultures and traditions from various countries. Making friends with people from all over the world also motivates me to learn more traditional regional cuisines.
Experience Introduction
This is an experience to make Shanghai's traditional delicacy, Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings). This experience will not only teach you how to make Xiaolongbao but also allow you to make friends with strangers from all over the world, and learn about Chinese dining and table culture. In just 2 hours, you'll unlock the mysterious skill of making Xiaolongbao, and take the technique home to personally make authentic Xiaolongbao for your family and friends.
Venue Introduction
The venue is located on the bustling Huaihai Middle Road. Passing through an alleyway, my space is hidden at the end of the lane. It's a place where the great hermits live in the city, yet inside it's a very open co-working space. Here, you can experience both the old Shanghai alleyway culture and see the international and modern side of Shanghai.
Experience Process
We will start with self-introductions, then begin kneading the dough, mixing the filling, rolling the wrappers, and I’ll hand-teach you how to pinch a thin-skinned, generously filled Xiaolongbao. After steaming, we’ll enjoy the fruits of our labor together. Finally, we’ll take photos as a souvenir. I usually prepare two kinds of fillings: one with pork and one vegetarian. This is a vegetarian-friendly and gluten-allergy-friendly experience.

Wonderful experience to make our own soup dumplings 🥟. it was great to understand and learn how to create the soup portion of the dumpling as it seemed like a mystery until this class! I will be trying to make these. fun class, would highly recommend doing this to learn something new and valuable!
This was one of the best experiences we have ever had! When we leave Shanghai, we will definitely remember this. She made us a home-cooked meal with tofu and vegetables, which was very good. She also told us many stories about China that were very interesting as my first time here in china. She mentioned that she had worked with celebrities before too - 10 out of 10 experience! You will be blown away by what you experience when you are with cici, it feels as if you are learning from someone with them at their home ❤️
It was very nice ! Cici taught us how to do dumplings with passion and happiness she even showed us how to do a double dumpling, a secret of her invention! We spent a very good and worthy time I really recommend it.
meeting point and venue was easy to find. Cici created an educational and fun experience for us, easy to follow instructions and demonstration ensured that all of us picked up the basic dumpling making skills quickly. dumplings we made were steamed and eaten with a couple of other simple dishes made by Cici, which was sufficient for a full lunch.
what an incredible experience. Cici knew all about dumplings and history and shared how to make them and then we got to enjoy lunch together enjoying our spoils if you have it please take the time to spend a couple of hours learning a new technique and enjoying a lovely lunch.
Cici was an amazing host! She speaks really good english and apart from teaching how to cook the dumplings, also teaches a lot about China and Chinese culture. For vegan people there is also an option to make tofu dumplings.
Highly recommended. The venue was comfortable and the location was great. Cici, the chef, was an excellent teacher. Both of my sons ranked this dumpling making experience was their favorite activity in our 4 days trip in Shanghai.
