This exhibition focuses on the two great landscape printmakers, Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) and Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), and their respective “challenges” to landscape painting, focusing on their masterpieces such as “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji” and “Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido.” All 46 prints of “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji” will be on display in the first and second halves of the exhibition! (A large-scale change of exhibits will take place during the exhibition period.) This time, you can see the precious ukiyo-e collection of the Edo-Tokyo Museum in Tokyo, only in Oita, Kyushu.
