What to expect

Shaan-shining Chinese Cultural Relics Exhibition

Four Main Chapters

  1. Roots and Origins: The chapter on the origin of civilization. Starting from the Paleolithic Age millions of years ago, it displays artifacts from Lantian Man, the stone tools of the Luonan Yeyuan site, and the Shimao prehistoric civilization. It presents the complete trajectory of the Wei River basin from ancient humans and prehistoric culture to the birth of early states, seeking the ancestral roots and origins of Chinese civilization.
  2. Heaven and Man: The chapter on institutional civilization. Centered around Western Zhou rites and music, the unification of the Qin dynasty, and the governance of the Han dynasty through virtue and law. Exhibiting artifacts such as Western Zhou bronzes, the Terracotta Warriors, and Han dynasty jade, it interprets the ancient concept of “the unity of heaven and humanity” and demonstrates the formation and development of China’s ancient governance system. This is the heaviest and most important unit of the exhibition, featuring authentic Terracotta Warriors.
  3. Communication and Integration: The chapter on Silk Road exchanges. Using the Silk Road as a thread, it displays gold bowls from the Hejiacun hoard, treasures from the Famen Temple underground palace, figurines of foreigners, and sancai-glazed camels. It shows how, during the Han and Tang dynasties, Chang’an served as the starting point of the Silk Road, where foreign and domestic commerce, art, and culture blended and learned from one another, reflecting the open and inclusive nature of Chinese civilization.
  4. New and Continuous: The chapter on cultural lineage inheritance. It showcases the epigraphy and textual research of the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, Guan learning culture, as well as contemporary achievements in cultural relic protection and archaeological research, telling the story of the enduring vitality of Chinese civilization as it passes down through generations and continuously innovates.

Key Exhibits: Terracotta Warriors, the gold bowl with mandarin duck and lotus petal designs from the Hejiacun hoard, unearthed treasures from the Famen Temple underground palace, stone carvings with divine mask patterns from the Shimao site, Western Zhou bronzes, Han dynasty jade bi disks, Tang dynasty gold and silverware, and blue glassware. The artifact categories cover bronzes, gold and silverware, jade and stone artifacts, and ceramics.

Supporting Areas: Equipped with a youth study area, a cultural and creative products area, and a traditional costume experience area, paired with multimedia digital exhibition displays. It is suitable for parent-child study tours and history enthusiasts.
