Dali Gantong Ropeway

The Gantong ropeway is located at the foot of Shengying Peak of Cangshan Mountain in Dali, backed by Cangshan Mountain and facing Erhai Lake, adjacent to the famous Buddhist holy sites Gantong Temple and Jizhao Nunnery. The ropeway has a total length of 2630 meters. All equipment is imported from Austria, known as the "Kingdom of ropeways." It features a single-line circulating detachable 6-person enclosed transparent cabin, ensuring safe, comfortable, and fast rides. The lower station of the ropeway is next to Gantong Temple, at an altitude of 2260 meters, and the upper station is located in the Qingbixi Scenic Area, at an altitude of 2523 meters.

Riding the Gantong ropeway, you can look up at the snow-capped peaks of Cangshan Mountain, overlook the hundred-mile Erhai Lake, Dali Ancient City, and the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple; in the distance, you can see Jizu Mountain and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Along the way, you can enjoy core landscapes such as Qingbixi, Zhenlong Chess Game, and Cangshan Grand Canyon. The upper station is also the southern starting point of the "Jade Belt Cloud Tour Road" that runs through Cangshan Mountain from north to south, along which you can hike to attractions such as the Seven Fairy Pools. The ropeway station also has a tea art museum with ethnic characteristics, where you can taste Bai ethnic group's Three-Course Tea and enjoy ethnic dances.

An aerial viewing platform with an unbeatable view: Riding the Austrian-imported 6-person enclosed cabin, it takes about 20 minutes to go from the foot of Cangshan Mountain to the mountainside at an altitude of 2523 meters. Below are lush primeval forests, and in the distance are the blue waves of Erhai Lake and the panoramic view of Dali Ancient City. The grand spectacle of mountains and sea is all in sight, and any casual shot is a blockbuster.

Dense landscapes, checking off multiple Cangshan landmarks at once: The upper station of the ropeway leads directly to Qingbixi—the "first scenic spot in central Yunnan" praised by Xu Xiake, where the three pools of water are layered in white, green, and blue. Next to it is the giant "Zhenlong Chess Game" with stones as pieces and the ground as the board, recreating a famous scene from Jin Yong's "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils." Standing on the Cangshan Grand Canyon viewing platform, one side is a deep canyon, and the other side is the scenery of Erhai Lake.

Lazy-friendly, suitable for all ages essential route: The Gantong ropeway is the most "people-friendly" of the three Cangshan ropeways. The Jade Belt Cloud Tour Road, which connects after exiting the ropeway, is mostly flat, with almost no climbing, making it easy for the elderly and children to walk. You can choose a round trip to Gantong (easy version), or Gantong up, middle, and down (essential hiking version), with 4.5–11.5 kilometers to choose from, catering to individual preferences.
