Tokyo: Vintage Coin Ring Making Workshop in Asakusa

Came here with my sister and nephew to turn old coins into rings. Good news: we left with rings. Even better news: we left with the same number of fingers we arrived with. This workshop was one of the highlights of our time in Asakusa. It’s oddly satisfying watching an old coin slowly become something you’d happily wear every day. You get to heat it, expand it, shape it, and polish it yourself. The hydraulic press also makes you feel far more qualified than you actually are. A massive thank you to Lydia, who made the whole experience so enjoyable. She was patient, encouraging, and explained everything clearly while giving us just enough freedom to feel like we were doing the work ourselves. Somehow, she also managed to stop us from making any expensive mistakes without making it obvious. Now every time I look at my ring, I get to say, “Thanks, I made it.” I just conveniently leave out the part where Lydia made sure I didn’t accidentally turn it into modern art.

This is the perfect way to make a memory and to create a unique souvenir of your trip to Japan. Fatima was fantastic and very helpful as she walked us through the entire experience step by step. I highly recommend coming here if you want to have bothe an experience and a beautiful piece to help you remember your trip.

GREAT experience. Everything was well explained to me and I was guided and supported throughout the whole process. I loved my instructor Elif she was the sweetest person and a great support. We also chatted A LOT (I love talking to people) and she is a very interesting person. I’d highly recommend ring making to anyone as it’s great though be aware that there are extra charges for different coins that are not included in your package.

My family and I had a great experience here. 4 of us made our rings out of coins here and they turned out great. Hector and Yuka helped us and they were both very knowledgeable. Yuka went through the steps with me and my son, and she was very thorough. Our rings turned out so cute! I definitely recommend

My fiancée and I wanted a special souvenir to bring back home and this was definitely it! The whole process was smooth and explained in a way easy to understand. Hector was our instructor and he was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming! I definitely recommend coming here!

Children found it very interesting to choose coins from their favorite countries, make rings that fit their size, and repeatedly practice punching holes, heating, cooling, grinding, and polishing the coins.

Amazing coin ring workshop! Yumi was an amazing instructor and made the 1.5 hours fly by. Staff all speak English which made it super easy. Tons of coin options from different countries to choose from. Had so much fun and left with a unique ring. Highly recommend!

This activity was very fun, and I would highly recommend it. The person assisting us was super helpful, and when my ring broke twice while making it, he assured me that it was ok and made sure I was happy with the finished product. This would be a fun activity for the whole family.

yumi is really friendly and takes really good care of my ring. she managed to let me make a much bigger ring than listed on klook with the right coin. awesome and fun experience!
