Beijing Day Trip to Jinshanling Great Wall + Night Tour of Simatai Great Wall One-Day Tour

What to expect
8:40 Gather at Exit F of Guomao Subway Station, take a bus to the scenic area. 9:10 Gather at Exit E of Shaoyaoju Subway Station, take a bus to the scenic area. 9:20 Depart for Jinshanling Scenic Area, the journey takes about 2 hours. 16:30 Gather at Jinshanling, take a bus back to Gubei Water Town, including Gubei Water Town admission ticket. 17:15 Freely explore the Jiangnan water town – Gubei Water Town, admire the simple folk customs of the Jiangnan art town, and walk to Simatai Great Wall. 18:00 Take the ropeway to ascend Simatai Great Wall, including admission ticket and round-trip ropeway. 20:00 Gather at Gubei Water Town parking lot, take a bus back to the city. 22:00 End at Shaoyaoju Subway Station. 22:30 End near Wangfujing Street.
The original Great Wall is the most valuable section of the Great Wall for viewing, and it is the most representative part of China's brick dragon architecture. They once formed a complete defense system, including barrier walls, crenellated walls, watchtowers,炮台, shooting holes, horse-blocking walls, and branch cities. Today, they are known as "photographer's paradise" and a popular tourist destination due to their magnificent appearance and enchanting scenery. Their charm has always attracted hiking enthusiasts because of their famous sunset views.

Our guide Christina was exceptional, her English was impressively fluent, even better than what we typically hear in HK. She's helpful and attentive throughout the trip. Although this tour was merged with other packages (like Simatai), we ended up with just five people on our Jinshanling adventure, which made the experience feel more personal and relaxed. We got separated from the main group, and picked up by our driver who ensured we reached Jinshanling safely and comfortably (+20¥ return ride). The scenery was breathtaking, and the hike was unforgettable. Christina’s guidance and the smooth handling of unexpected changes (we got lost in the hike, little late 😬) made the day truly special. Everyone I encountered in this trip (my first solo 🥹) contributed to a positive and memorable experience! Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a well-organized and enriching escape from the city with almost ZERO tourists, well maybe 2-3 other small groups, and some groups of students. 😆

Fabulous tour! Susie took care of everything and was super well organized. The Jinshanling hike was spectacular and was great contrast to the Simatai night hike, which was also amazing but far less strenuous.
The timing was perfect. Three hours to hike Jinshanling, exploring the original buildings, gun emplacements, defensive structures, etc. Back in Gubei Water Town, there was still an hour to wander around, slowly strolling to Simatai just in time for sunset. We went straight up to the eighth tower and saw the sunset glow, the golden dragon of the Great Wall, and the night view of the Water Town. It was very worthwhile. Our guide, Guide Wang, was very meticulous in pointing out key features and confirming the itinerary and drop-off points for each family. During the trip, I lost my phone when changing the Jinshanling route, and Master An, Guide Wang, and the bus driver helped me find it, which put me at ease. Highly recommended.

If you want to see the view of the Great Wall from movies and paintings, Jinshanling is the section for you! It's not crowded and the tour organises all the transportation and route planning for you to get the best out of your experience! Gubei Water Town and Simatai Great Wall are also beautiful. I highly recommend this tour!
it was a very enjoyable day. the guide was very professional and followed up before the event. Made sure to bring your passport. it is not an easy walk but well worth the effort.
The itinerary itself is great, visit 2 great walls in a day. Our guide and driver, Frank, communicated clearly on pick up and he was on time and ensure we got the appropriate entrance tickets. The only issue is I had was the operator did not reach out to me to arrange for pick up on the day of the tour. I was getting worried and finally I reached out to the operator after a few attempts through Wechat and email the night before the tour. I was relief the operator responded and we are able to connect with the guide, Frank. Note to tour operator: please reach out to all guests before start of tour to arrange for meet up or pick up.
First time visiting GW in Jinsanlin and view of the sunset in Simatai.. beautiful and captured fantastic view.Quite an experience as the normal day walk and climb in Badaling and Mutianyu
