There are subtitles during the show but it can still be a bit hard to follow especially if you are seated right in front (screens are at the side so you need to turn you head to look at the subtitles).
Overall, still a good experience seeing Peking opera, an ancient Chinese art form, in person.
Pro-tip: Doors open at 6.45pm for the 7.30pm show. Go early so you can get your choice of seats in the zone you bought.

A very interesting experience of traditional Chinese culture! The performance was held in the Liyuan Theater of the Qianmen Jianguo Hotel. It started at 7:30 p.m. and one had to arrive 30 minutes in advance. The performance ended around 9 p.m. and there were three plays in total.

Don’t worry about not understanding what the actors are singing, because there are Chinese and English subtitles on both sides. If you arrive early, you can also see the actors putting on makeup. It’s a very authentic Beijing experience! There were also live instrument performances, and the actors’ movements and singing were amazing. This is a traditional Chinese quintessence that is well worth experiencing when visiting Beijing!

I was first worried becuase of some reviews that the staffs do not know about the klook booking system and are not able to communicate in english. However, it turned out that they already prepared tickets for the reserved guests and are proficient in english. The only downside is that it is a bit hard to find the box office, but you can simply ask the doorman about the office. Had fun here.

Very cool experience! Seeing the Peking Opera stunts and hearing the live singing and playing in person really impressed me. Although the ticket price was more expensive, the experience of sitting in the VVIP seats was well worth it! It was great to also see the famous Farewell My Concubine!

Enjoy fragrant jasmine tea with small snacks and a piece of fruit. We purchased seats at the front, allowing us to watch the performers apply their makeup, known as "banxiang," and get dressed before the show. This was a great first experience with Liyuan Opera. The play itself was very moving, and the Chinese and English subtitles on both sides helped us quickly understand the lyrics and dialogue. The acting and fight scenes were also spectacular. The performance lasted exactly one hour.
