Booking guideline

  • Before booking, please ensure your mobile device is compatible with the local network service provider. No refunds or cancellations can be made due to SIM compatibility issues
  • The SIM card must be activated within 180 day(s) after pick up. It is strongly recommended to activate your SIM card as soon as you arrive at your destination to avoid any instances of failed activation
  • Dial "*#06#" on your mobile phone. If the EID barcode appears, it means your mobile phone supports the eSIM function

What devices are compatible with eSIM?

It's clearly indicated if your device is compatible with eSIM products on the eSIM APP product page. You can still purchase the product even if your device isn't compatible with eSIM for other people or other devices.

Please note that most devices manufactured in China and Hong Kong are not compatible with eSIM.

It's recommended that you search for your device on the Internet to see if it is compatible with eSIM.

eSIMs are not supported on locked iPhones. If you bought a device contracted with a telecom brand, it's usually locked from being connected to other telecom brands. (Please check with your operator for the details.)

How can I activate the eSIM directly from the Klook app?

  • Tap the “Activate” button and wait for the eSIM to get activated.
  • After activation, make sure the eSIM is installed on your device. You can check it from Settings > Cellular > SIMs.
  • You can name the eSIM in Settings > Cellular > eSIM > Cellular Plan Label.
  • Note: Be careful not to turn on the data roaming before arriving at your destination!
  • After arriving at the destination, please turn on eSIM data roaming and switch the cellular plan to this eSIM card to connect to the network.

How can I activate the eSIM with a QR code?

You can find the QR code from the booking details on the Klook app or on your Klook account.

The QR code should be visible next to the "Activate" button if your device is compatible with the eSIM and the eSIM plan. If not, you can scan the QR code with a device that is eSIM compatible by following these steps:

iOS

  1. Settings > Cellular or Mobile data > Add Cellular Plan > Scan the QR code
  2. Name the eSIM at your convenience from the "Cellular Plan Label."
  3. Do not turn on data roaming until you arrive at your destination

Android

Network & Internet > SIMs > Add Cellular Plan

The eSIM didn't get activated on my device. What should I do?

Check if your device is locked to a carrier, as eSIMs can't be activated on locked devices. Please contact your carrier for more information.

Can I scan one QR code with multiple devices?

No. You can use the eSIM only on one device. As such, one QR code can't be used multiple times or on multiple devices. Make sure to scan the QR code and activate the eSIM on the device you intend to use it on.

Should I turn on data roaming when I'm using the eSIM?

Yes. Make sure to turn on data roaming after you arrive at your destination. You can toggle it on from the eSIM settings.

An error occurred while I was installing the eSIM. What should I do?

The solutions depend on the error message you saw:

  • Cellular Plans from This Carrier Cannot Be Added:

Your device might be locked to a specific carrier. Please double-check from Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock. It should say "No SIM restrictions." If that's not the case, contact your original carrier to unlock the restrictions of your device.

  • Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change:

It might be because too many eSIMs are installed on the device. Please double-check if your device has reached the maximum eSIM capacity, which eSIM service is on it, and try removing one of the unnecessary eSIMs.

Please make sure to turn on the mobile data on your device.

Please make sure that the eSIM plan hasn't been installed on another device.

Please make sure you have a stable connection while you're installing the eSIM.
