What to expect

Miyama Thatched Village The Miyama Thatched Village is located in Nantan City, on the outskirts of Kyoto, and retains Japan’s most primitive rural village scenery. It is also one of Japan’s three major “Gassho-style” house villages, along with Shirakawa-go in Gifu Prefecture and Ouchi-juku in Fukushima Prefecture, and is an important preservation district for traditional buildings.

Amanohashidate (One of Japan’s Three Most Scenic Views) Amanohashidate is located in northern Kyoto Prefecture. About 8,000 pine trees form a continuous street tree line on the 3.6 km long sandbar that separates the Aso Sea of the Sea of Japan from Miyazu Bay. It is listed as one of the “Three Most Scenic Views of Japan,” along with Matsushima (Miyagi Prefecture) and Miyajima (Hiroshima Prefecture). “”“Umbrella Pine Park will be closed for maintenance from June 2 to June 11, 2025. During this period, it will be changed to View Land. Thank you for your understanding.”""

Ine Town Ine Town is located on the Tango Peninsula in northern Kyoto. The quiet and rustic fishing village streets are built along the coast of Ine Bay, stretching for nearly 5 kilometers. With its green mountains, clear waters, and beautiful environment, it has been named one of Japan’s 18 most beautiful villages.

Maggie has been an excellent tour guide! This was my first time booking a group tour and I was hesitant at first but I’m glad I did. The tour was paced well, I did not feel rushed and I honestly felt that the alloted time for each location was sufficient enough to get a feel and have fun on each places. We were in Ine Bay from 1015H-1055H, which includes the boat ride. A tip that I would give if you’re not into feeding seagulls is to skip the boat ride and just explore the Ine bay/ boathouses by foot. Next stop was Amanohashidate and we were there for 2hrs, then last stop was the Miyama thatched village which was phenomenal. Make sure to try their milk!! 🫶🏼

Thank you, tour guide Xiao Gao, for taking us to see our first snowfall ❄️! I finally truly understand that snowflakes are "really hexagonal"! Videos or online photos are too "flat". Real snowfall has layers of distance, including speed, density, and angle, interwoven into the romantic world described by poets. I really like the attractions you planned. The three main points were arranged perfectly, a very strong route plan! But I think it would be better if the time allocated for Miyama could be extended. Actually, you can really find a corner here to enjoy coffee and daydream! Also, tour guide Xiao Gao's story about "young people" at the end was hilarious. I can totally understand because my hometown also has a serious aging population! Finally, I wish you and your children peace and happiness 🎉. As long as you are safe, you can find the radiance shining through the leaves, and this radiance can help small trees grow into big trees 🌳!

This was a beautiful day tour in the Japanese countryside. We first went to Amanohashidate where we had lunch at the scenic restaurant at Kasamatsu Park. Then we went to the breathtaking Ine Boathouse where we admired the seagulls and enjoyed good cup of coffee at Tug Boathouse Coffee. Finally, we enjoyed the sunset at Miyama Village. In between sites, our tour guide would offer to buy us local delicacies like pudding and donut to try. I totally recommend doing this day trip if you are around Osaka or Kyoto. The sites are quite far apart from each other so they can only be conveniently explored through day tours.

This was my first time participating in a local Japanese day tour, and Amanohashidate and Ine Boathouse Village were truly amazing and fun. Although the waves were too big to go out to sea by boat, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we were able to feed the seagulls with shrimp crackers at the parking lot in Ine's small bay, which was really fun. Remember to buy the large package of shrimp crackers because there are really a lot of seagulls. The tour guide, Maggie, is really strong, constantly switching between Chinese, English, and Japanese to introduce travel information. She answered all questions very kindly and asked each person individually. So, we also asked her for her opinion on the issues we were worried about during our independent travel. This was also the first time I've met such a kind and capable tour guide. Miyama Kayabuki no Sato was okay, probably because I've already been to Shirakawa-go Gassho Village. Unexpectedly, the tour guide recommended Miyama's donuts, which were quite delicious. In short, just listen to the tour guide Maggie's recommendations. I took a single-person chairlift up and down Amanohashidate, which moved very slowly and was only a little scary. It only takes seven minutes to go up or down. The weather was very good, and those seven minutes were very comfortable.

An itinerary that's nothing short of exciting and well-conceived, which we unfortunately couldn't fully enjoy due to the bad weather, but still an unforgettable experience. The guide was courteous, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. One of the most beautiful excursions to take outside of Kyoto!

Let me start by saying that day trips don't usually leave much time at each location, usually about 1.5-2 hours. This time we went to three places, which are more on the outskirts, so the travel time took up more of the time. But if you didn't choose a self-drive tour, the value for the money is still relatively high. The scenery at these locations is very beautiful, and if you have some budget to spare, I would recommend trying the Ine seagull feeding cruise and the Amanohashidate cable car single-person seat during the trip. The name of the guide we had this time was Meg, who provided professional knowledge and introductions in terms of service and tour guidance, and also cared about the guests throughout the trip. If the tour guide recommends something delicious, please try it, because we thought the things they recommended were delicious and fun this time.

This day trip was truly worthwhile and unforgettable! The tour guide's explanations were very thorough, not only introducing the history of the attractions, but also supplementing them with a lot of local life tidbits, making the whole trip more in-depth. The sea breeze of Amanohashidate, the tranquil fishing village of Ine no Funaya, and the mountain rural scenery of Miyama's thatched roof village, each of the three attractions has a different atmosphere, as if traveling through three worlds. The transportation arrangement was very smooth, and the driver was also very steady. The scenery along the way was comfortable and relaxing, and the overall rhythm was just right, not rushed or delayed :) There was also enough photo time during the trip, whether you want to immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery, have a cup of coffee, or carefully experience the tranquility of the Japanese countryside, you can do it leisurely. In terms of price, the value for money is very high. You can experience the multiple facets of the seaside, mountain village, and culture in one day. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed the day tour immensely especially with the great weather. Chose klook as the three locations are hard to get to on our own. Travel time is long with at least 4-5h on the bus. Diverse activities at each place which makes the trip really fun. Only drawback was the very big tour group of more than fifty.

Thank you, Orange Bus, for arranging this trip. After all, Amanohashidate and Miyama are difficult to get to, but with the bus, it's easy to come and go. The tour guide, Maggie, is very thoughtful and friendly. She introduces the highlights and less special aspects of each attraction, as well as the souvenirs and must-try snacks. She also clearly explains the meeting times and is very professional. As for the attractions themselves, although they were a bit below my expectations, they were still beautiful. Ine no Funaya is not particularly special, but the sea is truly blue, and feeding the seagulls is a lot of fun. Looking at the sandbar upside down at Kasamatsu Park is also impressive, but the park is a bit small. If you're not eating seafood near Amanohashidate, you might as well eat at the Kasamatsu Park observation deck, which is comfortable and has a panoramic view. Miyama's thatched roof village is a secluded and ancient village, but it's not stunning enough. You should sit in a cafe and look out at the whole atmosphere from a distance, but unfortunately, there are no outdoor cafes. Overall, the suburbs are nice, but once you've been there, the magic fades. Thank you to the tour guide, Maggie, for helping with taking pictures, buying tickets, and buying snacks. I wish you all the best in your work.
