What to expect
The Machu Picchu Day Trip from Cusco begins with a 4:30 AM hotel pickup and transfer to Ollantaytambo train station. From there, you'll travel to Aguas Calientes town and take a 30-minute bus ride to Machu Picchu citadel. On arrival, enjoy a spectacular view of the citadel as the clouds part and the sun illuminates its walls. A two-hour guided tour of the citadel follows, with free time afterward for exploring, including optional hikes to Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu mountains, or Sungate (Intipunku). The return journey includes a bus ride to Aguas Calientes for lunch, a train to Ollantaytambo, and a transfer back to your Cusco hotel, arriving around 6:40 PM.
