FantasticStayed with partner
The hotel was quaint, cozy and comfortable and in a walkable charming neighborhood. The staff were very responsive to texted questions and requests. It was a very enjoyable stay.

Nice room in a great neighborhood. I thought I’d spend more time downtown, but preferred the restaurants and activities in the immediate area.

Below averageStayed with family
This is the first time I have made a negative report about any hotel-- stay somewhere else.
The property is a rehabbed luxury home from the late 1800s or early 1900s--probably the home of a Pittsburgh robber baron. There is no staff. We arrived about 2:00 P.M. and found an individual working in the restaurant kitchen who was able to get us to our room.
The room was unique and only 34 stairs up a very old and steep staircase.
The room had a window above the door that could not be shaded or blocked. As a consequence, the hall light made sleep almost impossible. I was also concerned about fire safety because there is only a single staircase--in the event of a fire, the staircase would be impossible to use.
The concept of converting a luxury robber-baron antique home into a hotel is intriguing. Sadly, the concept failed miserably at this location.

GoodStayed with partner
The property itself was nice; however, the listing indicated that air conditioning was available, and it was neither running nor connected when we arrived. Given that it was 88°F that day, this was disappointing. We contacted management, and they promptly arranged to have the AC connected, which we appreciated. While the issue was ultimately resolved, it did create an inconvenience at the start of our stay.
Additionally, the bathroom faucet was inconvenient to use. The water would not continue running on its own, requiring us to hold the handle the entire time to get water. Once released, the water would immediately shut off, which made basic tasks in the bathroom unnecessarily difficult.

If ever there was a hotel to be described as antique, this would be it. Old and creaky, but charming. This was a great boutique hotel experience worth trying out. And the Cigar Bar was a nice addition.
