Fantastic 5.0
We used 3 sightseeing passes: Kurashiki, Okayama Castle, and Okayama Ichibangai. We didn't use the Korakuen Garden pass because it was too hot to walk that day. For Kurashiki, remember to exchange your pass at the tourist information center to the right after exiting the station. For Okayama Castle, you can exchange your pass directly at the ticket counter and also use it for ice cream on the first floor. For the Ichibangai pass, you need to exchange it at the information desk. Using the pass at ABC Mart to buy shoes and getting two 3,000 yen discounts at once was a really great deal.

Fantastic 5.0
This historic castle, located in the heart of Okayama City, is also known as "Crow Castle." Its interior has been renovated into a museum, housing artifacts from the Sengoku period. From the top floor of the main keep, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city, the moat, and Korakuen Garden.

Fantastic 5.0
The shop is not far from the riverside in Kurashiki, located on the second floor of a clothing store. The owner is very kind and attentive. Although she doesn't speak Chinese, we were able to communicate using Google Translate and simple English. All the kimonos in the shop are beautiful, and the owner's skillful hands can make your hairstyle look amazing. Considering the price and the results, I highly recommend it! It was very hot that day, and the owner thoughtfully lent us an umbrella, which we really appreciated.

Fantastic 5.0
The driver was very nice. We didn't know we'd pass a huge torii gate along the way, and she specifically pointed it out to us. Luckily, we made a detour to take photos; otherwise, we would have almost missed an interesting sight! 😆

What to know before visiting Okayama

What to expect from Okayama’s activities year-round

Okayama’s top bookings centre on attraction passes, followed by historical sites, tours and museums, with demand peaking in March and dipping in January. That seasonal rhythm means sightseeing ramps up in spring while quieter winter months make for easier, more relaxed booking.

Best activities for families, couples and solo travellers

Families will find attraction passes convenient — they bundle popular sights and suit a mix of ages. Couples often favour historical sites and museums for a quieter, culture-focused day together. Solo travellers and small groups can take advantage of the wide range within tours, from budget options to premium guided experiences that suit different interests.

What travellers from Malaysia typically book ahead

Most things in Okayama are flexible to book close to travel, but the earliest planners still secure key experiences around the early planning window, especially in the busy March period when demand is highest. If you’re visiting in peak months, consider locking in attraction passes and popular tours sooner rather than later.

Comparing categories by price and who they suit

Historical sites are the easiest, most affordable way into Okayama’s sights, offering low entry-cost options for budget-minded travellers. Museums sit slightly higher but remain accessible for culture seekers. Tours are the priciest and show the widest range of prices, from economical group outings to premium private experiences, making them a good fit for travellers seeking curated, higher-end options. Attraction passes act as a mid-range, convenient catch-all that suits most visitors looking to cover multiple highlights.
