What to expect
If you want to see Hokkaido's lakes, volcanoes, ranches, and hot spring landscapes all in one day, this route will be very suitable for you.
Starting from Sapporo in the morning, the first stop is Mount Yotei Natural Water Park. The spring water here is very clear and is a famous natural spring water source in Japan. On a clear day, you can see the complete shape of Mount Yotei, with beautiful lines. The air is clean, and it's great for photos, making for a relaxed start.
Next, head to the Lake Toya Observation Deck. From a high vantage point, you can overlook the entire lake, seeing the small islands in the center of the lake and the distant mountains. The color of the lake water changes with the weather, appearing particularly clear on sunny days. This is a classic lake view in Hokkaido.
Afterward, stop at Lake Hill Farm. This place is famous for its Hokkaido milk ice cream, which has a rich milky flavor. Sitting by the grass and enjoying an ice cream while looking at the distant natural scenery will make the journey very relaxing.
After noon, head to Showa Shinzan and the Bear Ranch (admission tickets are at your own expense). Showa Shinzan is a volcano formed in the 20th century, with a reddish-brown mountain body, which is very unique. At the Bear Ranch, you can see Hokkaido brown bears up close, which is an interesting ecological experience.
Finally, arrive at Noboribetsu Jigokudani (Hell Valley). This is the source area of Noboribetsu Onsen, where steam continuously rises from the ground, and you can see the geomorphological landscape formed by volcanic activity. Walking slowly along the trail, you can observe geothermal vents up close, making it a very representative natural attraction in Hokkaido.
This route has a clear pace and rich content, but it's not too rushed. It is suitable for first-time visitors to Hokkaido who want to experience a variety of natural landscapes in one day. Round trip from Sapporo city, with simple and reassuring transportation arrangements.

Reviews summaryIf you are someone who wants to take their time in one place, this tour isn’t for you. it’s fast-paced and you can visit a lot of places in one day. I especially appreciate the discount tickets that shops hand you when you get off the bus. (I think it was a special discount ticket for those on tour buses). Mila explained the background of the places we went to and recommended go-to-places around Hokkaido.
Booked this tour one day before the activity and made the right choice. Our tour guide Mila is very informative. She gave us valuable information on other places in Japan where we can travel with and her recommendations on the restaurants as well. The tour went smoothly and on time. I highly recommend this tour since you will visit beautiful places in Hokkaido outside the Sapporo city center.
Our guide Hong was good in explaining the places we went to. What we appreciate about him is his constant communication before, during, and after the tour. Suggestion though for the Farm Hill tour, since there is limited time and food products sold, it will be good if the guide can pre order for the tour group so it is ready for pick up once tourist reach the place.
This tour was amazing in all respect! tour guide Hong and photographer Kevin were very nice and assisting! i wasnt expecting amazing photos taken using SLR! they are ao beautiful! I wasn’t planning to do the snowmobile but decided to go and it was wonderul! so much fun than i expected! Other places were beautiful too, very picturesque. This tour is highly recommended!
It was a very organized trip, our guide Hong is very kind and helpful, He is knowledgeable in every places that we visit. He looks after us in every place. I enjoyed this trip, I will definitely book here again if I have the chance,
Much better than expected, mostly thanks to our tour guide, Meifang. Her flexibility and humanity made the tour enjoyable for everyone. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and explained every attraction in detail, making me understand the value of visiting them. For example, when we went to Lake Toya, the weather was bad and we couldn't see the scenery, but she told us which yogurt pudding and horse oil were only available locally, and that the store was family-run, which I found very interesting. I wasn't planning on riding a snowmobile, but a good tour guide doesn't make you feel like you're being pushed to buy things, and I'm glad I participated because it was the most fun experience. Meifang's greatest strength is her flexibility. When we arrived at the ice cream shop, there was a long queue, so she directly tallied the people who wanted to buy it and bought tickets for the group, and the queue disappeared. Also, due to heavy snow on the last day, there was a traffic jam in Sapporo, so she immediately suggested going to the JR station so we could transfer to a train early and be dismissed earlier. Although the traffic cleared up in the end and we didn't do that, she was great. I usually get carsick, but luckily there were a lot of people that day and we were on a big bus, and the driver, Lei Ge, drove steadily, so I didn't get sick. The only downside was that the person sitting next to me was sick and didn't wear a mask, and kept coughing and sneezing throughout the trip. I got sick the next day as expected!
All our bookings over the years have been made through Klook, and once again, they did not disappoint. My husband and I decided to join this tour just two days before the actual date, and we’re so glad we did—it was truly unforgettable. Our tour guide, Mila, took exceptional care of us throughout the entire tour. At one point, we realized we hadn’t brought enough cash, assuming credit card payments would be available everywhere. Unfortunately, some places only accepted cash. Thankfully, Mila immediately stepped in and helped us by paying on our behalf, reassuring us that we could simply settle the amount upon arrival at our drop-off point after the tour. We are incredibly grateful for her kindness and support. Without her help, we would have missed the snowmobile experience, which turned out to be the highlight of the tour. Highly recommended!
We had a great day tour and our guide was Sunny. Our first stop was the snowmobile area. We didn’t try the snowmobile ride and just waited for the others to finish haha. There’s a waiting area where you can eat and their sweet potato is a must-try! The second stop was the Lake Toya viewpoint. The sky was clear when we arrived so we were able to take photos. Next stop was Lake Hill Farm. Honestly, there’s not much to see here—just two stores. One sells gelato, the other is a bakery. We only tried the gelato and it was nothing special. Next was the Bear Ranch stop. Be prepared for the smell when you get closer to the bear cages! This was my least favorite stop. Although the bears look well-fed, they seemed bored and lazy. Personally, I think it would be better if the ropeway itself was offered as an optional activity aside from the bear ranch. Last stop was Hell Valley. The sky looked beautiful with the steam rising from the valley making it a great way to end the tour.
really enjoyed the trip. i was planning to DIY this, and i'm glad i took this guided trip, saved me a lot of hassle. snowmobile experience is a must! we were given plenty time for each stop. our guide, Mila, is very friendly and gave us info on the places. she also helped took photos, especially for those going solo like me. i'll be taking a different day tour with the same operator, so I'm hoping to enjoy.
