Great experience. a little snippet of each of the classic Japanese art forms such as tea making, Noh theatre and Maiko dancing. a lovely evening & introduction to these Japanese arts. Theatre is adorable. Ticket collection was very straight forward - we were given an allocated seat ticket which we were given after showing our Klook booking
You have to arrive at least 10 minutes before the time indicated in the reservation, because on the ticket for example it says 18:50 to 19:00 the entrance, there are some aids that look like cell phones that translate what you are seeing, I suppose they have an extra cost, I did not know they existed until I saw them in front of me, and they translated mainly the comic scene, but if not, the information brochure explains what you are seeing, and it is in Spanish, which was the best, it is a good experience, except that each art exhibition lasts a very short time.
It really felt like they performed the most signature Japanese traditional cultures 😂😂😂 It was also great that they explained the origins and content in English and Japanese through announcers every time they moved on to different performances, such as tea ceremony, Kato performance, flower arrangement, manzai, and maiko dance! The commemorative photo with the maikos at the end was also a memorable one~!
As a Chinese, I’m always amazed by how Japan preserves its traditional culture. So much of it originally came from China, yet has quietly faded back home — it’s bittersweet to think about. The performance tonight was still beautiful: Kyomai, tea ceremony, koto, ikebana, gagaku, and Kyogen. Just a pity there was no Noh. An hour passed like a moment.
beautiful experience watching the cultural performing arts of Japan was so enjoyable I definitely want to visit again
A good primer on traditional Japanese art and culture. You’ll see performances of UNESCO World Culture. Saw matcha making, Japanese harp playing, flower arranging, bugaku dance, kyogen comedy, hagoromo, and Kyomai dance which was my favorite. The program also advertised bunraku puppet theater, but was not included in the show. Not sure if it was supposed to. Would have liked to see that. The whole program runs for about an hour or so. Pricey in my opinion based on the length of the show, but the sheer variety of traditions you’re exposed to may be worth it for some. A crash course in Japanese performing arts.
Aside from the minor confusion earlier, getting in was smooth. I like the vibe of the premises especially its location (in the middle of Hanamikoji Street) and the performances were great.
I am so happy, that we booked the tickets. the show was amazing, had a lot of fun and learned so much. the explanations were helpful and interesting. Loved every second :)
It is seven short shows. Tea ceremony, Ikebana, koto music, the dances of maiko's, ... It has been a really nice experience.
My family enjoyed the performances esp the Koto duet and Maiko dance. Many foreigners were filming though asked not to. Overall, a wonderful experience for all.
