About Our Shop
A couple with a passion for kimonos, Japan, and international travel has opened a hidden gem of a kimono rental shop near Kyoto's Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Motivated by recent concerns about kimono rental shops, we focus on "creating a shop where customers can truly enjoy themselves." To that end, we limit the number of visitors per day to provide a memorable experience for both Japanese and international customers.
About Our Kimonos
With over 20 years of experience in the kimono industry as a kimono manufacturer producing numerous brand-name kimonos, we do not offer low-quality or cosplay-like kimonos. At our shop, we are committed to using natural materials such as "silk" and offer a wide variety of kimonos, from casual to traditional, and even unique kimonos you've never seen before. We also have kimonos for children, so the whole family can enjoy the experience together.
We value consultations with our customers and offer wonderful coordinated styles that cannot be imitated by other stores. There is no time limit, so let's find the perfect style together.

Reviews
We had the best kimono experience at Andot Kyoto kimono rental. The two owners (husband and wife) are very lovely and speak English very well. They helped us to choose the kimono belts, handbags and accessories to go with our kimonos. We love the experience!! Definitely come back to this store if we’re in Kyoto. The shop is very close Kiyomizu-dera.
From the introduction, I felt like they were serious about kimonos, so I made a reservation😀 The male owner explained the prices and options in detail and gave me plenty of time, so I didn't have to worry about choosing one. If you can't decide, get a recommendation. If you look closely, the kimono is well maintained overall, including the dyeing, embroidery, and fabric condition. If you like flashy things or want to wear something bold and different from usual today, you will eventually find yourself circling towards the furisode 🤭 The colors are vivid, so it has a self-reflector effect 👍 I wanted to wear it properly and take a picture of it, so I bought a high-quality furisode + 1 I added a time shooting option, and I'm still proud looking at the photos taken that day❤️ If you add an amount, the female owner will do all the hair setting and accessories for you, so don't worry about your hair (you can talk to the female owner about various things while setting, and she speaks good English and it's fun haha) ) When you walk around Kyoto, you come across many kimono rental shops, and the fabric of the kimonos here is definitely really good. It was one of my bucket list items, and I was really grateful to the two owners who were so kind from the time I first went until I returned it, and to the photographer who worked hard to take pictures of me in various locations for an hour, even carefully preparing props.❤️ I'm thinking about renting a kimono when I visit Kyoto. If so, I definitely recommend Andot Kyoto🫶
Nice staff and beautiful dress, hair doing is good😙
The boss and his wife are very sociable and friendly. The boss's wife studied abroad and speaks English. The shop will recommend suitable kimonos to customers at a fair price. If you are staying at the neighboring hotel, you can conveniently return the clothes at the hotel reception when the kimono shop is closed. I highly recommend coming here to carefully select clothes without having to squeeze with other customers. You can also enjoy the friendly and attentive service. It is very close to Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto, so you can go for a photo shoot right after wearing the kimono. Thank you for helping me and my child choose beautiful clothes and giving us unforgettable memories. We look forward to visiting Kyoto again.
It was such a fun experience! Highly recommend this kimono shop in Kyoto.
It was my first time going by train from Osaka to Kyoto, so I took the wrong train and left early, but I was 30 minutes late for my reservation time. The two owners told me not to worry and kindly went ahead with the plan. Thanks to you, I was able to get the shot of a lifetime and brag about it here and there. The kimono was so pretty. We also had our hair set together, and everyone said we looked like locals. The lady boss is really good~ Thank you both again~~~
The experience is ideal for family with children, the owners are a married couple and they are hospitable, although they can’t speak English very well , we can understand them.
The staffs are all very nice and accomodating. I missed our appointment because I got confused with the dates but the were nice enough accomodate us. Although I felt a bit rushed, picking up my kimono to my hair maybe because they have to squeeze us in between other appointments? not sure. I didn’t mind we were in rush anyway. tips and things to note: -it is far by walk to famous places like ninnenzaka. - klook doesn’t explain this voucher very well, this only gives you a discount, it depends of what type of design, you can get 5800 yen off the price with the voucher you will pay the difference. Mens are usually no extra payment. - the staff speaks very little english so you need google translate to communicate with them. -accesories like belt over the obi are NOT included to the price you will pay for it. The hair is also not included there’s a nother fee for the hair. I would give 5 stars but Klook listing is misleading.
Thank you for choosing Klook and leaving a review. We're sorry to hear that your booking for the Kimono rental did not provide you with a great experience. Please be informed that the package details has indicated that additional charges apply for hair set and other options of kimonos. Your kind understanding is highly appreciated.
Please do it so nicely~ㅎㅎ You are really kind and communicate well. The location is also good. I like the clothes, hair, and waistband~ I was able to choose leisurely and was worried that it would take a long time, but I wore it right away~
What a unique experience that you should try once.
