What to expect

Join a day tour from Osaka or Kyoto to Takayama Old Town and the Shinhotaka Ropeway. Take the ropeway from Shirakabadaira station to Nishihotakaguchi station to enjoy the stunning scenery of the Northern Japan Alps. Once you arrive, explore the area by hiking or taking in the views from the observation deck. Don't miss the Kita Alps Ohashi Bridge, a suspension bridge that offers breathtaking views of the mountains. Next, visit Takayama Old Town, a well-preserved historic district with traditional Japanese architecture, shops selling local souvenirs and handicrafts, and many restaurants and cafes. Don't forget to visit the Takayama Jinya, a historic government building that has been preserved as a museum. For dinner, try the famous Hida beef Sukiyaki set with sake tasting. Hida beef is a local specialty, and sukiyaki is a delicious way to try it. Sake is also popular in the region, with many varieties to choose from. You can choose to drop off at Nagoya or go back to Osaka or Kyoto
