Reviews
I visited this museum as part of a museum tour. I only knew the name 'Nishijin-ori,' but the staff explained so much to me, and seeing the real pieces up close was incredibly educational! All the exhibits inside were, of course, textiles, and some even used pure gold, creating a truly opulent and luxurious space 😍✨. Works by Van Gogh, Monet, and Korin were recreated in Nishijin-ori, and the brushstrokes of each artist were beautifully expressed. I was deeply moved by the exquisite detail…! Beyond just viewing the exhibits, it seems they also offer cultural experiences like tea ceremonies and opportunities to try on uchikake (wedding kimonos) for photos! I was even shown the inside of the tea room 📸. The uchikake in the photo is apparently hand-embroidered! It was so vibrant and absolutely lovely 💕. I saw so many interesting things that I'm planning to go back for an experience next time! The museum itself is on the smaller side, so if you're just looking at the exhibits, you could probably get through it in about 30 minutes! I, however, got completely absorbed in the gift shop and ended up staying for about an hour (lol). I was surprised to find a place in Osaka where you can experience traditional crafts like this 😲. It was a truly satisfying and enjoyable time 😊. Thank you!
I stopped by on my way back from the Nakanoshima Museum of Art. It was a truly wonderful museum ✨. The delicate weaving and the shimmer of the gold threads, which you wouldn't expect from Nishijin-ori, were absolutely stunning, and seeing them in person was quite impactful. I liked that there were not only Japanese paintings but also Western ones. It was fascinating how they looked like paintings from a distance but were clearly made of thread up close. There were also pieces that glowed in the dark, making it a museum that, despite its small size, kept me engaged. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to spend some relaxing time in Nakanoshima. It's a museum I definitely want you to visit at least once ☺️. Experience: They were offering a free ballpoint pen craft for a limited time. For a fee, cultural experiences like trying on a uchikake (traditional wedding kimono) or drinking matcha tea are available. I didn't have time this visit, so I had to pass, but I'd love to try them next time ✨.
