Reviews
Ichinari or his Tea Master name Sousei, was absolutely fantastic! My husband and I wanted to do a tea ceremony and we ended up getting a private class with Sousei and it was wondering. We learned so much tea history, and Sousei dressed us in kimonos which really gave us even more of a look into Japanese culture which we loved. I highly recommend his class!
It was my first time in Japan experiencing the culture of the tea ceremony, but because I wasn't familiar with Osaka's transportation, I missed my reservation time. The teacher was still very patient and waited for us to arrive. For punctual Japanese people, our lateness was a great disrespect to them, but the teacher was still willing to wait for us, which moved us very much. Personally experiencing the culture of the tea ceremony is a great boost to the soul, allowing me to feel the life realm of tea ceremony and Zen. This was a rich intellectual journey, worth recommending 👍🏻
we had an incredible experience with our tea master, we included kimonos in our booking, he was very patient and understanding with our 4yr old as we couldn’t find many that would accept children, it was a lovely location well setup tea room and he gave a lovely explanation of the significance of each part of the ceremony as well as encouraging us all to try the actions and language. we all enjoyed making a cup of matcha tea and enjoyed the sweet that was offered. overall a very enjoyable and informative experience which we would highly recommend as part of your trip to Japan.
Very educational cultural activity by a chado master. Great detail was put into teaching us about the art and history. Our instructor was clear and effective. I gained a greater understanding and admiration of this aspyof Japanese culture.
the tea master was very informative. well organised and was a very interesting lesson listening to the history of Japan and understanding the culture better. I would highly recommend this.
Really interesting & thorough! The tea master was very knowledgeable and taught us all about the history of the tea ceremony, as well as how to eat the sweet, how to make & serve the matcha, and how to drink the matcha. Quite complex but he talks you through it step by step. There were just 4 of us in total which was the perfect group size. No photos were allowed which was great as it was more immersive. You sit on the floor throughout but they have cushions, plus they also provided a chair & a small table for my partner who had a bad back. Also note that the class is upstairs in a kind of community centre, inside a Japanese style room but the tea master met us upstairs (we couldn’t find it at first but luckily we were early anyway). And don’t forget you need 1,000-2,000 yen in cash on arrival. Would 100% recommend, there is so much detail that I left out of this review!
An enlightening experience that was insightful, calm and informative. Our tea ceremony host was great and accommodating. Would highly recommend, thank you!
Class ended up being only my group of two people. Instructor was nice and was able to walk us through a full understanding of history, sweet tasting and tea. It felt like such a personal moment between the 3 of us.
The teacher was super awesome.. very knowledgeable about the traditions of the tea ceremony.. versed in different languages. The class was very professional and informative. Definitely something I will take home in the learning process. Japan is so awesome.... totally enjoying the overall trip.. but this class is a must and highly recommended
The tea ceremony was a truly serene experience, made exceptional by the knowledge and expertise of the tea master. He carefully explained every step of the ceremony, sharing fascinating details about the history and traditions behind each movement. It was not just a tea session but an immersive cultural journey. Highly recommend for anyone interested in the art of tea.
