Chinese Calligraphy Experience in Beijing Hutong

Your experience begins in a traditional Beijing hutong, surrounded by narrow lanes, grey brick walls, and local courtyard homes. After a warm welcome, your instructor will introduce the basic tools of Chinese calligraphy, including brushes, ink, ink stone, and rice paper.

You will then watch a simple demonstration and learn how to hold the brush, control your hand, and create basic strokes. Step by step, you’ll practice writing meaningful Chinese characters such as happiness, peace, fortune, or love.

This beginner-friendly workshop offers a calm and personal way to experience Beijing’s local culture. At the end, you’ll complete your own calligraphy artwork and take it home as a handmade souvenir.
