Reviews
Reviews summaryI recently took a day tour to Hallstatt from Vienna, and I had a fantastic experience. The bus ride was safe and comfortable, making the journey enjoyable right from the start. Booking the tour was incredibly convenient compared to planning the trip on my own. The bus made several side trips for restroom breaks and meals. Our tour guide was approachable and knowledgeable, providing interesting insights about the area. While he wasn’t as energetic as some guides I've encountered, his calm demeanor added to the overall experience. Overall, I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore Hallstatt without the hassle of organizing everything independently!
This is definitely a must-do experience when visiting Vienna! I have to give special praise to their staff. I only discovered the day before that hotel transfers could be arranged. I sent an inquiry email at 4 AM, and to my surprise, I received a response at 5 AM confirming that the hotel transfer service was available. By 3 PM that same day, they had already updated me with the driver’s details for my 6:30 AM pickup the next morning. Their customer service was truly outstanding! As for the tour itself, the guide on the bus was highly professional, humorous, and engaging. Once we arrived at the destinations, they provided excellent local insights and recommendations, making our journey even more enjoyable. This experience gave us an amazing and memorable trip!
The departure was very punctual. The check-in staff, driver and tour guide were all locals. They were all very kind. The tour guide would explain in English and was very humorous, which made everyone feel more confident about the trip. About two hours after departure, we would go to a rest stop to eat and use the toilet. Then we continued driving for 1.5 hours and arrived at about noon. We returned to the meeting place at 3:30 in the afternoon. I originally thought that 3.5 hours was too short, but later I found that this town is really small and 3.5 hours is more than enough! It happened to be a clear sky on the day we went. It was so beautiful that words cannot describe it. I only made the reservation after checking the weather a week before departure. It is recommended that you don’t book too early and wait until the weather is good to avoid wasting the whole day. Also, the weather forecast is for that day. 7-8 degrees, which is 2-5 degrees higher than the city of Vienna, but it is actually very cold there! Be sure to dress more than you would in the city!
Family of 4 Meet-Up Point: Detailed instructions on reaching the meet-up location will be sent to your email. The location is strategically chosen for easy access. The Bus: We traveled on a double-decker bus equipped with comfortable seats, USB and Type-C charging ports. The ride was enjoyable, but the bus got quite warm on our return journey in the evening. Bus Ride & Stops: The trip includes two stops, approximately 1.5 hours apart—one en route to Hallstatt and one on the way back to Vienna. Each stop is at a nice Marché-style restaurant with a gift shop, providing enough time to enjoy breakfast or dinner. Destination - Hallstatt: Hallstatt is breathtaking and serene, especially in autumn when the colors and mountain reflections on the lake are at their best. It’s a paradise for photography enthusiasts. For families, it’s a fantastic place to explore, though it would be nice to see some “Frozen”-inspired elements, given the animation’s popularity. The allotted time was perfect for exploring, but I wonder how visitors with multi-stop tours (like those including Salzburg) manage it! Driver and Tour Guide: The driver (possibly named Peter!) did an incredible job navigating the narrow, dark tunnels safely. Our tour guide was engaging and shared interesting information about Hallstatt, with plenty of humor along the way. Overall: This was a fantastic experience, well worth the long drive to see such an incredible place. A big thank you to both the driver and the guide for making the journey enjoyable!
The perfect lazy girl tour experience! a long and relaxed bus ride with a really nice and funny tour guide Stephan who gave us his number in case we would get lost. He managed a whole tour group of 75 quite well! Aside from Hallstatt I liked the bus and the stopover I thought it was all well planned.
Favorite place in Austria! So peaceful, calm, solemn! Something I’ve been looking for! I love the city but the vibe of this place is so different. Tour guide & bus driver was so nice. Can’t wait to be back next year and stay longer. A must to visit.
It's very thoughtful that they can pick you up from the hotel in the morning, but unfortunately, they can't drop you back off at the hotel after the activity ends. The one-way trip is about 4 hours, and there will be rest stops on the way there and back. You'll have about 30-40 minutes to buy things and eat. We participated in the tour on January 1st, and everything was open. Hallstatt is beautiful. One trout restaurant there only accepts cash. After arriving, the tour guide took us up to the church for a quick tour, and then we had free time, about 3-4 hours, which was plenty of time. Recommended for people who don't want to research the route themselves.
The scenery is very beautiful, the village is a famous tourist destination, a destination not to be missed by tourists when traveling to Austria. The tour was very well organized, on time and according to the planned schedule.
Hallstatt offers a dreamy escape with its alpine lake, charming houses, and scenic mountain views—perfect for relaxing strolls, boat rides, and soaking in storybook beauty.
It’s a long travellinh time on the bus to Hallstatt as expected but I think that the scenary there is totally worth it. Even though we didn’t have a sunny day, it was still so beautiful and romantic!
