Reviews
Finding such a peaceful, authentic escape in the heart of bustling Shibuya was a major highlight of our trip. We booked this experience through Klook and were thoroughly impressed from start to finish. The location is incredibly convenient, yet once you step inside the serene tea room, the city noise completely fades away. Our host was exceptionally knowledgeable and conducted the entire session in clear, graceful English. We began with a fascinating look at the history and preparation of high-quality matcha powder. The ritual itself was a masterclass in mindfulness and precision. We were served delicious seasonal sweets which perfectly complemented the rich flavor of the tea. The best part was the hands-on portion where we chose our own beautiful bowls and learned to whisk our own matcha using traditional tools. The entire session lasted about 50 minutes, making it easy to fit into a busy day of sightseeing. If you want a deep, calming glimpse into Japanese culture, this is a must!
A very good experience that you actually can feel the japanese tradition and culture. The tutor is a super nice lady with excellent English who guides you with a fantastic tea ceremony. The enviornment is nice. Surely will recomend to other friends who are coming to tokyo :)
What an absolutely amazing experience. Me and my husband came here on our last day in Japan and it was a once in a lifetime, beautiful, intimate tea ceremonies. The ladies were so welcoming and knowledgeable! Thank you for this special experience!
Me and my daughter visited Tokyo for the first time. We were so grateful to choose this tea ceremony. The host was very nice, everything wet so smoothly. We, not only watched how to make the matcha, but had the opportunity to make it our own. Such a great experience. Definitely recommend 10/10
If you’re thinking of booking this experience, do it! First off, we were running late due to transportation issues and they were so kind to accommodate us at another time, which they did not need to do. Once we got there, Coco started by going over a few history points on the tea ceremony itself as well as matcha, which was fascinating to learn about. She explained the treat designs they pick out and it was just so impressive with how intentional everything was. We then went in to watch her make matcha, followed by us making our own. It was truly a beautiful experience that really taught us to appreciate the process and thought that goes into everything. The entire experience was about 50 minutes long and was the perfect start to our day in Tokyo. Also, as many others mentioned, her English was great so no issues there if that’s a concern for you.
First time visiting Japan & so glad my friend & I chose this tea ceremony. The confirmation email included instructions on how to find it, even a video! so no going wrong! The lady we had was just simply beautiful. Her English was amazing & everyone in the group was given information sheets so you could follow along as she spoke about the history etc. We all got to make our own matcha after watching her & then walking us through the steps. The little sweets we were given to go with our matcha was a lovely touch as well. I would definitely recommend doing this if you're heading to Shibuya....let's face it, you should be going to Shibuya if you're headed to Japan. Enjoy 😊
This tea ceremony was absolutely wonderful. The host was truly amazing, so kind, gentle, and caring. She took the time to explain everything in detail and taught me so much. It was my first time preparing matcha, and I really appreciated how patient she was and how she let me take my time. She even let me prepare my own matcha and offered me delicious traditional sweet. The whole experience lasted almost an hour, and I loved every moment of it. At first, I hesitated to book it since it was something new on Klook, but honestly, I don’t regret it at all, it was such a beautiful and peaceful experience. I highly recommend it! If you’re visiting Tokyo, don’t miss this experience, it feels like being in a traditional house in Kyoto rather than the busy city of Tokyo.
We really loved this tea ceremony! You can feel that the people who host it — both men and women — truly know what they’re doing and are so passionate about it. It was such an interesting and beautiful experience. We learned a lot about the history and the spirit of the tea ceremony, and the atmosphere felt so peaceful and authentic. The location is also very convenient. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Shibuya! 🍵
This class was such an humbling experience! To learn of tea making and the sweets shared was highly sacred. Loved every minute with our teacher.
I never imagined I could experience a tea ceremony in the middle of urban Shibuya like this. It's a quiet and very calming space. The Japanese sweets were delicious, and it was a wonderful experience. I'm planning to bring my foreign friends and people who love kimono. They explain the tea ceremony, and you can eat tea and sweets in an authentic tea room, and then you can make your own tea. It was a valuable experience. I think it's the best activity to learn about Japanese culture. Highly recommended!
